NBC orders full seasons of Go On, Revolution, and New Normal!

NBC has given Revolution, Go On and The New Normal a giant vote of confidence, giving all three freshman shows full-season orders.

“We’re impressed with the imagination and creative direction of the entire team on Revolution, not to mention the immediately strong response we got from the audience,” said NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke in a statement. “We’re also very proud of our new comedy block of Go On and The New Normal.”

The pick-ups, the first of the new season, come as NBC is celebrating its first premiere-week victory in nearly a decade. ”We’re very pleased with early results of the last three weeks of our fall season roll-out,” said NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “The strategy for this season was to draft off the promotional platform of the Olympics and then begin our season early and strong. I think we’ve accomplished both of those goals, yet we know it’s a long season and there’s much work ahead of us.”

I really, really want to like Go On. I love the cast of characters on the show, but I feel that the script itself leaves much to be desired. :(
klutzy_girl 2nd-Oct-2012 09:20 pm (UTC)
Yes! So fucking happy about Go On and Revolution right now. (Gave up on New Normal.)

Go On is seriously Matthew's best post-Friends role. And I desperately need the ratings to continue like this so it gets a second season. And I want him to have a successful show.

Go On is seriously Matthew's best post-Friends role.

idk, I might have to still give that to Studio 60, ngl
doverz 2nd-Oct-2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
Studio 60 was a thing of genius.
treebraids 2nd-Oct-2012 09:20 pm (UTC)
Yes to Go On!

No to the New Normal I could not watch the pilot, it was so bad.

I was waiting to see how Revolution would go, I'm tired of high concept dramas that don't deliver.
mynamehere07 2nd-Oct-2012 09:35 pm (UTC)
Revolution isn't high concept. It's more along the theme of Jericho than something like The Event or Flash Forward.
treebraids 2nd-Oct-2012 09:38 pm (UTC)
Just realized I have no idea what Revolution is, I was mixing it up with "Last Resort".

hewontgo 2nd-Oct-2012 09:44 pm (UTC)
Jericho was great; the other shows were not
darkwarrior 2nd-Oct-2012 09:20 pm (UTC)
Revolution is so perplexing. The young cast, mainly the sister and brother, are absolutely terrible, the brother especially. He can only whisper his lines and everything he does seems designed to make you actively hate him.

Then you get to the part where it is portraying a post electric world where e veryone has the finest hair stylists available apparently, clean, freshly made clothes and enough pressed uniforms to suit a militia.
seemsobscene 2nd-Oct-2012 09:31 pm (UTC)
ia with revolution, i've also never hated the lead as much as i do right now in a show that i want to really like...and you totally have to suspend belief when you watch them with all their brand new clothes--i did love the joke about google in the first episode though
darkwarrior 2nd-Oct-2012 09:35 pm (UTC)
Yeah, they ppicked 15 years for some reason, but noone has aged except the kids, and apart from teh changed societal structure you'd hardly notice anything was different.

Even though there are no showers, no toothpaste, no running water, no LAVATORIES and no toilet paper.

Think about the budding romance between annoying lead girl left out in the sun too long and Nate now.
mynamehere07 2nd-Oct-2012 09:39 pm (UTC)
But all shows like that ignore that aspect. Everyone looks lovely on Lost, Walking Dead, etc...

But yeah, the acting, writing and direction are pretty bad.
cricketgrl 2nd-Oct-2012 10:04 pm (UTC)
I don't know why it was renewed. Isn't the ratings for Revolution dismal? I'm really surprised they ordered a full season of it.
spike_freak 2nd-Oct-2012 11:51 pm (UTC)
There is also the fact that it's been years since the electricity went out and nobody has suggested using steam for anything. Like what did they think used to power trains and factories, fairy dust?

misoras 2nd-Oct-2012 09:22 pm (UTC)
awa yay for go on.
sophistiquated 2nd-Oct-2012 09:27 pm (UTC)
So is Revolution turning out to be the new Heroes (circa seasons 2-4)?
marcospaulo 2nd-Oct-2012 09:28 pm (UTC)
I'm here for The New Normal, I think the whole cast is being incredible. Revolution is just fine so far, Go On too.
dramatik_irony 2nd-Oct-2012 09:57 pm (UTC)
you're the only one.
marcospaulo 2nd-Oct-2012 10:23 pm (UTC)
no problems about that lol
cricketgrl 2nd-Oct-2012 10:05 pm (UTC)
I love New Normal too. I don't know why but I'm falling pretty hard for that show.

I hate Partners though, that's just an awful show.
lovedhurtlost 2nd-Oct-2012 10:40 pm (UTC)
I like The New Normal. ~shrug~
manu19 3rd-Oct-2012 12:48 am (UTC)
love them too

I like The New Normal too!
sassandthecity 2nd-Oct-2012 09:28 pm (UTC)
I want Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish to show up on Go On.
bighype 2nd-Oct-2012 09:28 pm (UTC)
i really wish giancarlo was on a better show than revolution. i can't stand to watch it. i had that they made him the bad guy. compared to the type of guy gus fring was, capt. neville seems to blah. and i fucking hate all the other characters.
mynamehere07 2nd-Oct-2012 09:33 pm (UTC)
MTE. Gus Fring was such a great character and Giancarlo was so perfect in it. It is kind of hard to see him in something so...bland.

SAVE GIANCARLO!!
bighype 3rd-Oct-2012 03:11 am (UTC)
SAVE GIANCARLO, SAVE THE WORLD
michelleantonia 3rd-Oct-2012 09:37 am (UTC)
I'd be satisfied if he was on something half as good as BB. I mean, 50%, even that's GREAT. But this is not. This is just absolutely incomparable to BB :/
prophecypro 2nd-Oct-2012 09:29 pm (UTC)
You know this season seems weird when Go On feels like one of the best comedies..and Im not even sure if it is a comedy. Likeable characters but not really a show full of wit and humour per say. Its very sunday comic and watchable but I dont know if its funny

choukoumei 2nd-Oct-2012 09:32 pm (UTC)
That's a good way to describe Go On. It's actually my favorite of the new comedies so far but not because it has me rolling on the floor laughing but more because it has an interesting cast of characters and they do an excellent job of making the plots entertaining.
klutzy_girl 2nd-Oct-2012 09:35 pm (UTC)
Go On is honestly my favorite new fall TV show this year. I love it so much.
theotherqueen 2nd-Oct-2012 10:04 pm (UTC)
It's AMAZING.
lestat 2nd-Oct-2012 10:06 pm (UTC)
it's community lite tbh
harborafternoon 2nd-Oct-2012 09:34 pm (UTC)
the first episode of New Normal was fucked up (unchecked racial stereotypes, eugenic-adoption tactics and casual racism)- are the other episodes more of the same?
p2bab 2nd-Oct-2012 09:36 pm (UTC)
yes.
instantgold 2nd-Oct-2012 09:48 pm (UTC)
idk how people enjoy that but okay
soul_amazinn 2nd-Oct-2012 09:53 pm (UTC)
It actually gets worse. It's so try hard with the stereotypes

Edited at 2012-10-02 09:56 pm (UTC)
artpopart 2nd-Oct-2012 09:56 pm (UTC)
The grandmother is supposed to be racist. She's like Archie Bunker.
harborafternoon 2nd-Oct-2012 10:23 pm (UTC)
but is the gay couple supposed to be racist, too? and does the black secretary have to be loud and obnoxious?

it's clear that the grandma is a "haha racist" person, and it's clear that her overt racism is supposed to distract from the covert-racist writing. that's what i got out of the first episode, and i wondered if it just continues that way.
deceitful 2nd-Oct-2012 10:29 pm (UTC)
yep
manu19 3rd-Oct-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
i love the stereotypes. i think its what makes the show so hilarious, but i get why ONTD hates it. they hate everything fun
psubookworm27 3rd-Oct-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
that's what I thought of the promos I was watching. And so I didn't bother with the show itself.
honeebs 2nd-Oct-2012 09:35 pm (UTC)
lol nice of them because they will be canceling them at the end of it.
hahahahaha
p2bab 2nd-Oct-2012 09:37 pm (UTC)
not really. the other NBC shows have even MORE terrible ratings.
honeebs 2nd-Oct-2012 09:39 pm (UTC)
m'kay
ljubavirakija 2nd-Oct-2012 09:36 pm (UTC)
Still need to watch Revolution; but, so far I'm enjoying Go On and The New Normal
xo_soccer9 2nd-Oct-2012 09:43 pm (UTC)
