Chris Hemsworth: Clip of 1984 Red Dawn Remake

In 1980’s, the stars who are prominent in cinemas were Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey did Dirty Dancing. Charlie Sheen was seen in Platoon. But prior to that, these three came together, with C. Thomas Howell and Lea Thompson, and starred an American war film by John Milius, Red Dawn. The film is set in an alternate 1980s in which the United States is invaded by the Soviet Union and its Cuban and Nicaraguan allies. The story follows a group of American high school students who resist the occupation with guerrilla warfare. Guess what they call themselves – Wolverines! I’m not sure if in 2012 remake, they will be called Wolverines too.

The new Red Dawn is directed by Dan Bradley and will star Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Of course, the cast is very current and quite known at their own right. Also, the plot is also changed – it will be fighting against North Korean invasion.

We have the first clip of Red Dawn here:

Wait....is that one of the kids from Drake and Josh? idk which one is which tho....

I'll see this though, because Chris Hemsworth can geddit.
fruitchews 2nd-Oct-2012 12:46 am (UTC)
He is Josh (Peck) according to imdb.
sparkysparky 2nd-Oct-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
okay, so that's like 10 points in the minus column. But Hemsworth is an infinity points in the plus column so it's easily out weighed.
fruitchews 2nd-Oct-2012 12:45 am (UTC)
This doesn't seem quite as scary nowdays as it did back then. More likely they'd just drop a bunch of nuclear bombs and get it over with. Who needs foot soldiers when you could wipe out so many people with one bomb?

+ Patrick Swayze. That should be the beginning and end of everything tbh.

I feel like this was filmed so long ago
girlygirlk8e 2nd-Oct-2012 12:48 am (UTC)
It was. I think around 2009.
hemsworth 2nd-Oct-2012 01:19 am (UTC)
it was in 2009. he did both this and the cabin in the woods before he bulked up for thor which is why he looks less muscular
crazyventures 2nd-Oct-2012 01:44 am (UTC)
Cabin in the Woods was fabulous!
girlygirlk8e 2nd-Oct-2012 12:46 am (UTC)
The thing that makes me worried is that this was filmed years ago and shelved.
alexahhh 2nd-Oct-2012 01:57 am (UTC)
It was only shelved because MGM went bankrupt and they were waiting for a new distributor. I think it will do better now than it would have if it came out right away because now Hemsworth and Hutcherson are bigger names.
stylistic4u 2nd-Oct-2012 09:00 am (UTC)
Yep. :)
cyberghostface 2nd-Oct-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
The idea of North Korea being able to invade the US is hilarious.

imnotasquirrel 2nd-Oct-2012 01:05 am (UTC)
ikr.

and why the fuck would they care about the us when south korea is RIGHT THERE. or do they take over south korea first?
anydoppelganger 2nd-Oct-2012 02:24 am (UTC)
exactly. this shit is borderline offensive.
elvenqueen86 2nd-Oct-2012 03:07 am (UTC)
It was originally China but the studio made them change it in post production.
cyberghostface 2nd-Oct-2012 03:10 am (UTC)
I know that. It's still idiotic.
sorya86 2nd-Oct-2012 05:36 pm (UTC)

sparkysparky 2nd-Oct-2012 01:38 am (UTC)

I remember when they announced that they were redoing this and the only cast member people recognized was Josh Peck, haha.

I absolutely loved the original Red Dawn. Dont know how I feel about this remake
melissa_ivory 2nd-Oct-2012 02:35 am (UTC)
Having the enemy be different, due to the changes in time frame, is what will make me able to watch this remake, which is really more an Alternate Universe. Otherwise, when I first heard about this, I kept scoffing, because I also love the original.
schexyschteve 2nd-Oct-2012 12:58 am (UTC)
I think a girl I went to high school with was an extra in this movie. She has pictures of herself with Josh Hutcherson.
teetersslow 2nd-Oct-2012 01:02 am (UTC)
pls let this film slide past with out anyone commenting on it. Chris doesn't need this flop tbh. So much better than that. Give me Rush
deadtree 2nd-Oct-2012 03:43 am (UTC)
luckily he's going so strong that it doesn't really matter if he has a flop
redsprings 2nd-Oct-2012 01:02 am (UTC)
Can he do anything else other than action films? No one mention Home and Away, I'm already aware of that disas-tuh.
teetersslow 2nd-Oct-2012 01:04 am (UTC)
fingers crossed after Rush is released he'll get better scripts.
hemsworth 2nd-Oct-2012 01:18 am (UTC)
well since he's got a real tight schedule and has no time to stop bulking up for thor action films are what he can do so far. but i do hope he tries something new soon. i hope rush is good so i'm going in with low expectations
