As we've seen in the past few weeks, not everyone totally supports the idea of Drake executive-producing a posthumous Aaliyah album. That includes Ginuwine.
In an interview with entertainment website LivinTheHustle.com, the R&B singer laid his thoughts on the table when asked about the contentious project. “I don’t think he should do it," said Ginuwine. "I don’t agree with it."
Ginuwine -- who frequently collaborated with Aaliyah in the '90s -- added: "I think he should just leave that alone. I keep hearing about it. I’m not too much up on it but I know a little bit about it. I do know that he’s disrespecting Chris and that’s just not her legacy. That’s not how her legacy should be played out. I don’t think he should use her to paddle anybody."
Ginuwine’s sentiments side with those of Aaliyah's close friends and collaborators Missy Elliot and Timbaland, who stated that they should be involved in the album in some capacity, but that the consent of Aaliyah’s family would be the deciding factor.
G. did acknowledge Drake’s musical talents and called him a “great artist” but believes Drizzy “can get more creative than that…” when it comes to producing the late singer’s music.

I hope Ginuwine kicks his ass tbh

And I loved Aaliyah. But question... Drake is like super freaking young, isn't he? Was that kid even old enough/freaking alive to listen to her music when she was around!?!?!? lol

I'm sorta mixed on this. On one hand it sounds like a terrible idea and is feeding an unhealthy obsession of a cornball that is Drake and feels like a major violation by her label to go against her family's wishes.
On the other hand..I could actually see Drake's production team of guys like 40 laying the kind of beats that would fit Aaliyah vocals perfectly. And sadly it would probably be better than anything Timb's done in like 6 years. Fuck all that "I got something in the vault"
