maybe i'm jaded but

this is fantastic for his publicity

and i'm sure his management knows that

idk i kinda agree. i thought it was really sweet, but it seems like it's getting to the point where he/his team are milking this child's death :/
ellenelles 1st-Oct-2012 03:11 am (UTC)
lol how? he tweeted about her a few times and he did one tribute to her

people barely even heard about it when they spent time together. she obviously meant a lot to him, he hasn't overstepped boundaries in anything imo

But I also think that if he didn't do some sort of acknowledgement he would get some backlash for it as well. There's no harm in it really.
ohkimosabe 1st-Oct-2012 03:11 am (UTC)
the worst thing about ontd is most commenters have a conspiracy about every little decent thing a celeb does. people don't always have to play devil's advocate.
lolzerz 1st-Oct-2012 03:12 am (UTC)
well of course. just read the comments on this post already.
khloekardashian 1st-Oct-2012 03:13 am (UTC)
as far as i've seen he really did love spending time with her. he posted a bunch of personal pictures of them together on instagram.

idk. i don't really like the kid but i think this is genuine.
msamericandream 1st-Oct-2012 03:03 am (UTC)
i feel like he's always touring
caulifloral 1st-Oct-2012 03:56 am (UTC)
he's finished the world tour for his last album in like...october of last year, so he kind of is tbh. it'll take him 2 years to do the world tour for believe, starting from now with a few breaks.
ragdollia 1st-Oct-2012 03:04 am (UTC)

Poor little girl. RIP.

I'm not in Bieber's fanbase or age range, but I respect the kid immensely. In comparison to many who are in the public eye, he has mostly handled his celebrity with aplomb, he has a great work ethic, he's got a girlfriend he treats well (and models to other boys and girls that that's possible and okay), and he seems genuine. I work in PR and social media while I don't doubt there is some PR aspect and benefit to this, is it really so hard to remember that there are actual human beings on PR teams and in the public eye? Not everyone is a money-hungry robot using every little moment of their lives for publicity. Trust me, I work with, have worked with and have known many.
mellarks 1st-Oct-2012 03:24 am (UTC)
I hate that people on ONTD are so cynical about things like this. It's like they forget celebs are people too and can genuinely feel about these things.
whitewatergirl 1st-Oct-2012 03:26 am (UTC)
Exactly. I said pretty much the same thing. The cynicism is annoying.
mellarks 1st-Oct-2012 03:31 am (UTC)
I'm just like ... I have no doubt it has PR benefits, at all, and is being used for that to an extent. However, it's bringing some sort of awareness to people, especially young people who normally wouldn't pay attention to that sort of thing if it hasn't personally affected them.

There's nothing wrong with living with a little cyncism, but ffs.
so_chic_doll 1st-Oct-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
I think even IRL, we can do good things like this and them also benefit us down the line... like if you volunteer, you can put that on your resume and that looks good. Does that mean you only volunteer to look good and can't also just love volunteering & doing good? No.

So yes, this doesn't hurt his image-- but who's to say he didn't really care about her either?
