A man apparently shot himself in the head on live television at the end of a high-speed chase that began in Phoenix.
Fox News was covering the chase that began at midday Friday using a live helicopter shot from its Phoenix affiliate when the man driving the small vehicle stopped, ran into the desert and appeared to place a handgun to his head and fire.
Fox News anchor Shepard Smith told viewers minutes later that the video was supposed to be on a delay.
After a commercial break, Smith said "we really messed up, and we're all very sorry."
Phoenix police say the chase may have started with a carjacking. The man then drove west on Interstate 10 for dozens of miles before getting on the dirt road.

he's a conservative but definitely more sane than 98% of their anchors. i'm also fairly certain he's purposefully flamboyant but he gets super high ratings and i think his show is the most popular one on their network (probably because he's actually a fair & balanced anchor so some liberals can tolerate him) which is probably why he still has a sjob

LA Residents may remember this: Daniel Victor Jones was an HIV positive man who, on April 30, 1998, set his truck and dog on fire, spread a banner proclaiming "HMOs are in it for the money, Live Free, Love Safe, or Die" on the Los Angeles freeway, and then shot himself (after nearly blowing himself up in his pickup).
I never knew the full story, that is so fucked up. :(
