Justin Bieber Mourns Loss of Biggest Fan, 6-Year-Old Avalanna Routh



Sad news, Beliebers: Avalanna Routh has passed away following a long battle with cancer.

The 6-year-old girl, who Justin Bieber and his fans referred to as "Mrs. Bieber," died Wednesday morning, according to a Twitter account run on her behalf.


"just got the worst news ever," Justin tweeted after learning the news. "one of the greatest spirits i have ever known is gone. please pray for her family and for her. … RIP Avalanna. i love you"

In February, Avalanna's dreams came true when, thanks to a Facebook campaign, she and her family came to New York City to visit with her idol. Avalanna, who suffered from a rare form of cancer called AT/RT since infancy, spent nearly two hours together with Justin playing Candy Land, autographing each other's hands and even exchanging playful kisses on the cheek.
Avalanna's mom told E! News her daughter "had a wonderful time" meeting Justin, adding that he "is charming and interacted beautifully with Avalanna—it was our pleasure to meet with him."

But Justin wasn't Avalanna's only A-list fan. Jessica Biel told Avalanna's story during a Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser earlier this month. Biel tweeted that "it was an honor" to tell Avalanna's story and added, "you're my hero."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Avalanna's family and friends.

Me, too! I had 4 different ferrets over the span of 12 years. They were the best pets ever. I decided not to have anymore after the last one died about a year ago bc it was just too hard on me when they got sick and died.

I bought this really cool silver ferret ring on ebay and I wear it every day in their memory.

i feel so sad for her (hopefully she's in peace now), her family, or people like justin that were close to them/her. i can't imagine the loss of a child.

I think she was from MA and the news here was saying how sincere and great with her he was. Its nice to see a young celebrity take so much time out for kids like this.

she was :( i saw it all over seven today. i'm not necessarily a bieber fan but i'll always have a massive amount of respect for him and the way he invests time and emotion into little kids that idolize him

Why do bad things happen? Why pray if there's a divine plan? Why presume that the Christian god is more correct than Ra or Yaweh or Allah? Lot's of things to think about..

It doesn't though. There is no good reason in the world to take a six year old from her family, or leave children orphaned, or make them die incredibly painful deaths by starvation every day. Those deaths are solid evidence that there is no such thing as God.

We're never going to have all the answers, no matter what we believe. I've always thought it was more encouraging to think it isn't mindless and without answers and that everything will make sense one day. We just have to learn to be content without answers for now because none of us will ever find them all.

I believe this little girl is in a much better place than here.

Because god's place is in teaching you how to be a good person rather than in solving the world's problems. I wouldn't want to live in a world where an all powerful being actively chose who lived and who died.
