We have magical news for you, readers! (Alas, it will not be delivered by owl.) J.K. Rowling has announced that she is considering releasing a “director’s cut” of the Harry Potter books. Commence your freak out accordingly.
In an interview with the BBC, Rowling confessed that she wishes she’d had more time with some of the Potter books. “I read them, and I think ‘Oh God, maybe I’ll go back and do a director’s cut,’” Rowling said. “I don’t know.”
The 47-year-old author added that, while "where Harry's story is concerned, I'm done," she was considering a new story set in the same Potter universe.
"I don't want to go mechanically back into that world and pick up a load of odds and ends and glue them together and say, 'Here we go, we can sell this,'" Rowling told the BBC, Wednesday. "It would make a mockery of what those books were to me.
"But ... if I did have a great idea for something else, I probably would do it. I am very averse to the prequel-sequel idea. A sidestep could maybe ... well, we'll see."
While we would be interested to see another book set in the Harry Potter universe, what we’re most excited about is the idea of a director’s cut. The earlier Potter books are much shorter — which is likely because they were more heavily edited in the years before Rowling’s fandom reached epic proportions — so it would be fun to see more of what’s going on in those first few novels.
However, what I’d really like to read is more of Voldemort and Dumbledore’s backstories. Harry’s experiences felt sufficiently fleshed out for me, but I think there’s room to hear about more of the side characters. Enough about me, though, what would you like to see in a director’s cut?
Rowling is currently at work on a new book “for slightly younger children than the Potter books.” Her first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, will be released tomorrow.

J.K. Rowling considering new HP book, plus a 'director's cut' of the Harry Potter series

Someone else's however...
specifically, i want a mcgonagal background story.
I wouldn't want to 'understand' him or some such shit, just chronicle his steps beyond what Dumbledore guessed.
There's an entire WORLD to write about, that could be completely separate from Potter.
get that damn encyclopedia out first. If she is not going to do it I will forever be pissed for shutting down the HP lexicon.
Almost makes up for Albus Severus Potter.
Almost.
1) Marauders FFS. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO, JKR, JUST GIVE IN!
2) I want Deathly Hallows from the Hogwarts perspective. I want to see what the Silver trio was up to that year!
YES
But IA.
i imagine it to be a lot like when we met umbridge and when i read about her, it made me rage. i wanted to help the characters because she was so horrible but i had to keep reminding myself that they weren't real lol. i couldn't handle reading that because you know neville was treated horribly. :(
lol, for a moment I thought of something like the castle going "Ugh, this jackass is sneaking Death Eaters through that passageway AGAIN!"
so i think a marauders story would be good to get into developing those characters more
but also only works if sirius/lupin happens. that's all i care about.
Although I'd still read the shit out of that.
YES PLEASE.
SHOEBOX WILL ALWAYS BE CANON

comes with some really pretty fanart too
A lot of people consider it canon.
I'm linking you to the collection of pdfs, which is the best way to read since all of the pictures are intact. (Also, the community where it was posted got hacked so the original entries no longer exist.)
NHF Rose/Scorpius or any pairing.
...I have a lot of feelings about this.
Scorpius, though . . . no helping that one. XD
