Cumberbatch to play next Bond villain?


Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly in the running to play the next James Bond villain.

The Sherlock star is allegedly being targeted to face off against Daniel Craig's 007 in the untitled 24th James Bond feature film.

According to The Express, Cumberbatch is considered "perfect Bond villain material".

"Work on the next film will begin next year and the plan is for Benedict to be on board," an unnamed source is quoted as saying.

"He grew up watching Bond, so it would be a childhood ambition fulfilled. Playing a Bond villain is one of the plum roles in film history and he'd jump at the chance."

Skyfall, the latest James Bond movie to star Craig as 007, will open on October 26 in the UK and November 9 in the US.

LOL, same. I was ready to start bitching about them drestroying my fave movies when I was a kid, but then I re-read and thought 'Hmm, I could see him as a villain'

I Disagree. Frankenstein and Hawking were both great examples of his versatility. He's just more well-known for a certain type of character.

I know hating on Benedict is popular right now, but he does have some pretty serious range. Tinker Tailor, Starter for 10, Sherlock, Parade's End, Atonement... the characters are not the same at all.

His voice is perfect for a villain. I watched the unaired pilot of Sherlock last night and his voice sounded different than usual in it, it didn't fit the character. Made me realise how much his voice adds up to the character.

After watching all of Parade's End, I've come to the conclusion that I didn't like it and that Benedict was miscast in the lead role. As much as I wanted to like him, his character never elicited much sympathy. I cared more about the female characters, tbh. They were perfectly cast.

The "loose ends tied up" ending was kind of gross, too. Did we really need to see him putting his mouth all over that girl's chest? Not what I wanted in an ending.

O.K. End rant now.

Yes it was the last one. However, if you're in the UK you can still watch the whole series on iPlayer up until the 28th September.

Lol, don't be afraid to watch the last episode. I was worried after episode 4 but I gave myself a couple of days and bit the bullet and was rewarded for my efforts.

They submitted Scandal in Belgravia. As far as I'm concerned, neither Martin nor Ben gave an Emmy-award winning performance in that episode. Had it been Reichenbach then I'd be pressed about Martin not winning, for sure.
