ADULT BOOK POST

Romance novelist Maya Banks has landed a 7-figure deal with Penguin’s Berkley Books imprint. Starting in 2013, Berkley will release a new erotica trilogy by Banks–the Breathless Berkley Books, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA), announced today the acquisition of an all-new trilogy of erotic romance novels by New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks. Rush, the first book in the Breathless trilogy will be published in February 2013, followed quickly by the second book Fever in April 2013 and the conclusion Burn in August 2013. Berkley will publish simultaneous digital and trade paperback editions of each book.
Cindy Hwang, Executive Editor of Berkley, acquired World English rights to the trilogy in a seven-figure deal with Kimberly Whalen of Trident Media Group. Whalen also sold Italian rights to Mondadori in a pre-empt and audio rights have been pre-empted by Brilliance Audio in a six-figure deal, with several other foreign rights deals imminent.
“Maya Banks was at the forefront of the erotic romance trend and has been a star on Berkley’s list for several years,” Hwang said. “Her new trilogy will thrill returning fans and is the perfect introduction for readers who fell in love with the intensely provocative storyline in Fifty Shades of Grey.” Hwang also acquired and edited the New York Times bestselling phenomenon Bared to You by Sylvia Day.
In this new trilogy Banks brings her talent for writing edgy, seductive, and darkly sexual novels to a story that will appeal directly to a wide group of readers. The series follows three billionaires—Gabe Hamilton, Jace Crestwell and Ash McIntyre—who are best friends and business partners. The men dominate both in the boardroom and in the bedroom. Each novel in the trilogy will explore the relationship of one of the men as he discovers the woman he will love.
A successful and popular writer in the romance genre, Banks is excited to expand her readership with this new series. “I’m thrilled to be taking another big step with Berkley and my editor, Cindy Hwang. With the mainstream now wide open to the kinds of novels I began writing with the Sweet series in 2007, I look forward to connecting with a whole new array of readers and, of course, my wonderful fans who have been so good to me throughout my career.”
Readers can purchase the books in both digital and trade paperback format. The deal includes world English rights.

Unbridled Nabs Steamy Memoir By Anonymous Couple
Unbridled Books has acquired North American rights to The Mistress Contract, an erotic memoir, written by an anonymous couple going under the names She and He.
Unbridled will release its paperback edition of the title in January and, in the U.K., Serpent's Tail, which acquired world rights (except North America) from Unbridled, will publish its edition in November 2013.
The "contract" of the title refers to a deal that the pair struck in which He would provide shelter and income, and She would, in turn, perform "mistress services." Unbridled said the parameters of those services are described, by the authors, as 'All sexual acts as requested, with suspension of historical, emotional, psychological disclaimers.'
The book is based on recordings the couple began making in 1981; She is now 88 and He is 93.

(And it has bad reviews.)
For the duration of the agreement, she will become his sexual property.
Then — on a small recorder that fit in her purse — this extraordinary and unconventional couple began to tape their conversations about their relationship, conversations that took place while travelling, over dinner at home and in restaurants, on the phone, even in bed.
This book is based on those tapes. It is a candid record of what they had to say to each other privately about the arrangement and its power relations, their physical relationship and the sexual forces that shaped it. As private and intimate as it is, though, the book also turns an unblinking light on a period of intense upheaval between men and women.
Looking back now, thirty years later, this extraordinary couple — who are still together — are willing to reveal their most private moments to our scrutiny. What they capture in The Mistress Contract is an unapologetic revelation and a bold provocation.
And I'm not surprised about the bad reviews, tbh.

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick (this book jfc)
It's the only Vampire Chronicle I haven't read
My main complaints are her weird and random rants that don't seem to go along with what else is being discussed at hand. I do enjoy the break down in how factory agriculture and factory farming is very much incredibly damaging to our world, and not something that really gets brought up.
