Scott and Seth Avett being entirely too adorable, intimate performance of new single "Live and Die"



Worth the watch just for Scott in boots and shorts. Not to mention anything Avett Brothers is a million times better live.

Yes! I kind of didn't think it would be accepted because I couldn't find anything on them here, but it's insane how huge they've gotten in the past couple of years.

Love love love your icon OP! I saw them live for the first time ever in June and they were AMAZING. January Wedding will forever be my favorite song. Also Scott needs to cut his hair so he can look like this again

I've been a fan of The Avetts for a long time, and I've seen them live maybe 10 times. To say this album was a disappointment is an understatement. I can't stand to listen to most of the songs.

It was nice to finally have a studio version of Down with the Shine, but they sucked the life out of it. I like Telling Time (PGFM), but that song's real old. I liked maybe two other songs. :(

They'll be better live. I blame all the life being sucked out of the songs 100% on Rick Rubin. I wish he'd go away. He's a great producer, but it's time he, the Avetts and the label accept they are not a good match for each other.

It's not just that the life is being sucked out, it's that some of these songs are so elementary without that Avett simplicity that works. It's just...unlistenable to me. But I'm sure the songs are better live. They haven't toured much in North Carolina lately. Plus, I can't deal with the crowds/rude people anymore. I might would go if it was seated.

And agreed. There's obviously something not working here. I wonder what they'd sound like with a different producer.

I feel the same way about the album. I only liked 3 or 4 songs. But I feel like some of the songs I don't like will be much better played live.

I think bands are more concerned with making songs that will sound amazing live, than they are about album friendliness. I know bands usually do stuff like that, but they're being much more obvious and vocal about it. Even though Shields is flawless, Grizzly Bear's new stuff was so much more powerful live. Mumford admitted to doing it and while I think Babel is freaking amazing, it's definitely not meant to be enjoyed through earbuds.

I love them. However, I read that as 'Live and Let Die' and I thought oh great, I love this song! When it played, I was so confused because it didn't sound anything like it should... then I realized.

ok, the short brother was cute, but i'm seriously so fucking annoyed by them and that fucking commercial. if i hear or see their annoying ass one more fucking time i am going to do nothing but complain about it!
