'Vampire Diaries' season 4 spoilers: More on what's next for Jeremy + E! online spoilers

"The Vampire Diaries" will return to Channel 6 in Tempe next month, and now fans are being given more details about what is to come in season four. On Sunday, September 16, Spoilers Guide shared some details for the second episode of the season titled "Memorial."

There will be a shocking event at a church in episode 4.02, and that episode will also involve Jeremy Gilbert in a major way. Spoilers Guide revealed the following about the episode:

"However, the big reveal, or should I say question, is why is everyone so afraid and puking up copious amounts of blood in the church?! The October 18th episode will also be the beginning of Jeremy’s big season 4 arc."

Last season, Jeremy started off the season seeing the spirits of his dead girlfriends. By the end of season three, he put together a plan to get Elena out of Mystic Falls and away from the vampires in town. Of course, that plan failed brilliantly and helped lead her to becoming the next vampire in town. Steven R. McQueen hinted at what is next for his character in a recent interview:

"My thing has been to keep Elena safe, to make her feel safe, and I failed to do so. So I think this next season it will be interesting to see where that goes. I feel his main objective will be to become stronger to protect the people he loves."

Fans are buzzing about this series on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter recently:

I just call my mother "Nina", I really too addicted to this show, I think #thevampirediaries

"The Vampire Diaries" will return to Channel 6 in Tempe on October 11.

Spoilers from E! Online

@itsmrswesley: Will Stefan be putting a ring on Elena’s finger?
He will be entirely too busy dealing with this situation to even think about locking down Elena. Or, to put it a better way, here is Kat Graham: “I think this is one of our biggest seasons so far. You’re going to see an interesting shift with Elena in the first few episodes,” she tells us. As for her own character? “Bonnie is going to meet somebody who is going to have a huge impact on her future,” Graham teases.
