Gwyneth Paltrow Is InStyle’s October Cover Girl!

Gwyneth Paltrow has mastered the art of living! In InStyle‘s October issue, the actress, mother, and Goop.com creator talked to Diane von Furstenberg about her family life, her career, and what she’s learned at 40—to make life fun! “I was very strict for a while,” she tells the designer. “I was macrobiotic for a couple of years, then I got pregnant and just ate ice cream. What I’ve learned is I want to enjoy my life, and food is a big part of it. I love to cook and feed people. I cook every day.” And that optimistic outlook—along with a healthy dose of good taste—is what continues to draw her fans to her website, Goop.com, as well as attract new ones to her just-launched app, City Guides (check it out here!): “Goop readers trust my taste and know that I know where to find cool stuff. A city guide is a fast and fun way for them to have access to where I actually eat, shop, get a manicure, and hang out.” Read more about Gwyneth’s energized and positive take on life in the new October issue of InStyle, on newsstands Friday, September 21st.

With her new movie "Thanks for Sharing" set to hit theaters on November 2nd, Gwyneth Paltrow kicked off promotions a bit early by covering the October 2012 issue of InStyle magazine.

The 39-year-old actress - who was just named Best Dressed Woman in the World - looked darling in a Diane von Furstenberg jumpsuit with Fred Leighton earrings and Vhernier bracelets for the Giampaolo Sgura shot front page while dishing about everything from her diet to not letting her two children watch television in their native English language.

On the differences between her and her husband, Chris Martin:
"Probably our artistic temperaments. Artists are sensitive; there are ups and downs mood-wise. Musicians need a certain gravitas and focus in order to write. The temperanemt that goes with someone who is creative can be challenging. I focus more on understanding than being understood."

On only allowing her children to watch television in a foreign language:
"I only let them watch TV in French or Spanish. When I'm in France, I go to [Boulevard] Beaumarchais and buy all their cartoons."

On her favorite food to indulge in:
"My indulging is a fresh baguette with cheese and a glass of red wine or french fries and fried zucchini. Or a turkey burger."

Lol, okay.
hilsongirl 18th-Sep-2012 02:43 pm (UTC)
srsly wtf
mynamehere07 18th-Sep-2012 02:54 pm (UTC)
But it's more educational if it's in a foreign language. /sarcasm
daydream11 18th-Sep-2012 04:09 pm (UTC)
If they're native English speakers and she's using them as an improvised immersion program, it actually is. When non-native-English speakers say that they use television to learn English we're impressed, so how come it's not the same thing the other way around?

Geez. My French teachers tell me all the time to watch French TV. The more you listen to it the more familiar it becomes, and the easier it is to pick up on it. I think it's genius.
odeeryme 18th-Sep-2012 11:09 pm (UTC)
I actually think it is. I mean, English is not my native language and I got really good at it because I watched everything in English and started reading in English too.
If you only plan on learning while at school, then you're screwed.
lovely_tunes 18th-Sep-2012 03:01 pm (UTC)
i'll be honest and say that i'd do the exact same

ain't no shame in being a multilingual kid
anus 18th-Sep-2012 03:03 pm (UTC)
Hey if it helps them learn another language, then I'm all for it. It's a shame that US schools don't really give a shit about foreign language.
frenchverbs 18th-Sep-2012 03:30 pm (UTC)
I actually plan on doing that with my children. I think it's ridiculous that in the US, it's unusual to know more than 1 language. And the school requirements for languages here are silly. My hs only required two years of a language.
endingonfire 18th-Sep-2012 03:39 pm (UTC)
French never stuck with me because you have to be immersed in it. Makes sense if she wants them to be multilingual.
amethystcitrine 18th-Sep-2012 04:39 pm (UTC)
Mte, my eyes rolled out of my head.
thelovehater 18th-Sep-2012 02:43 pm (UTC)
Second picture her eyes look crazy, but the dress color on the cover is really her color. She should wear burgundy on the red carpet, I can't remember her wearing much of it.

Also IDGAF, this sounds delicious.

executivehpfan 18th-Sep-2012 02:44 pm (UTC)
She is so insufferable, my god.
bollyhood 18th-Sep-2012 02:44 pm (UTC)
I genuinely don't know how anyone can stand her. Even her children. She's absolutely intolerable in every sense of the word.
queenweasley 18th-Sep-2012 02:47 pm (UTC)
Ikr? It seems strange to me that she's married to Chris Martin.
bollyhood 18th-Sep-2012 02:49 pm (UTC)
He's kind of a douche too though yes? Not like the beautiful Alexander.

luvthatdrtywata 18th-Sep-2012 03:22 pm (UTC)
ia. and no need for her to pretend she doesn't know. modesty is for the poor.

"I focus more on understanding than being understood."

That sounds fun.
mynamehere07 18th-Sep-2012 03:12 pm (UTC)
She used that logic to dismiss the whole "In Paris" thing.
bellatrixella 18th-Sep-2012 03:01 pm (UTC)
poop
shukivengeance 18th-Sep-2012 03:17 pm (UTC)
She is insufferable and that second picture terrifies me for some reason.
craftacular 18th-Sep-2012 03:21 pm (UTC)
Obviously we don't know these people but for some reason, GP makes me wanna get my bat. That smug bullshit and she shades Kathy Griffin who is a magnificent human being.

Fuck GP. I might have to watch that Contagion movie where she gets sick.

Also, GP, you SUCK as Pepper. You remind me of the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz.

/smack dat betch
greyfilm 18th-Sep-2012 09:00 pm (UTC)
Dude, watch Se7en. Her head ends up in a box. It's fabulous.

I don't understand one fucking word of this. I guess my artistic temeprment just doesn't mesh with hers.
endingonfire 18th-Sep-2012 03:36 pm (UTC)
She is a sheltered idiot oftentimes, but I love her photo shoots. For a non-model, I love the way she photographs.
winegums 18th-Sep-2012 07:28 pm (UTC)
yeah, she has beautiful bone structure and she's tall and slender - a very classic kind of blonde beauty when she's dressed/styled right.
myblackass 18th-Sep-2012 03:36 pm (UTC)
She looks like she has to sneeze in the second picture.
