That said there is a difference between using auto tune to tweek an audio track and using auto tune to turn someone who can't sing into someone who can. I think Demi(like most recording artists) is guilty of the first example, not so much the second.
I really hate how people go around saying they have never have and will use autotune, when most chances they have.
It's mostly used to twerk pitch according to what key you're in, and when you're in the studio for 6+ hours singing the same lyric over and over, you're gonna be a little pitchy
I've rooted for Demi for years because her voice is so damn fantastic. She's not some other silly Disney kid forced to put out music. Clearly she was more into music than the acting. Disney just helped her get noticed.
yeah she once said something about how acting is something she has to do in order to make the music happen to. So she does acting for the sake of music. Then she kinda backtracked and was like "well no acting is good thuogh I like both". I forgot the exact quote
It also explains why after she got out of rehab she's like "I'm not in a good mental place to be on tv and in front of a camera anymore so I'm quitting my show. It just wouldn't be good for my self image and recovery you know? Being on camera? But being on stage in front of thousands of people is totally fine.... new album here we come!!!!!!!"
