I stopped watching Glee. I pretended the last episode of season 3 was the series finale. Should I change my mind?
atomicdogmeat 17th-Sep-2012 04:57 pm (UTC)
Yes pretend it ended much sooner.

I give up. Last fall I gave up on both Supernatural and Glee. But happily I discovered Breaking Bad instead.
oneloveunited 18th-Sep-2012 03:05 am (UTC)
Shame about SPN, next season looks amazing.
therealcharlie 17th-Sep-2012 05:00 pm (UTC)
Dropped Glee, 90210 and GG halfway through their latest seasons and never looked back tbh.

atomicdogmeat 17th-Sep-2012 05:01 pm (UTC)
All the shows I like get cancelled before they get a chance to turn shitty.
forgethissmile 17th-Sep-2012 05:05 pm (UTC)
I did that with Scrubs and, to a lesser degree, House (although House never hit those levels of suck that Scrubs descended to).

But I've abandoned ship with Nip/Tuck and later Glee (gee two Ryan Murphy shows...) and I'm glad I did. It's honestly like breaking up with a shitty boyfriend, removing yourself from a TV show, especially in the age of DVR, where you have to actively tell your DVR to stop recording it, and delete any ones that it already had recorded.
no_urges 17th-Sep-2012 05:06 pm (UTC)
i just give them up. why torture yourself? first heroes, then supernatural, then glee.
bodylikemind 17th-Sep-2012 05:07 pm (UTC)
i gave up on glee and nip/tuck, but i did go back and finish nip/tuck on netflix. i started weeds on netflix and few months ago and watched the whole thing for some reason even though it got really bad really fast and that finally just ended. californication does the same thing every season and i still watch it and dexter kind of sucks now but i still watch that too
andgedem 17th-Sep-2012 05:07 pm (UTC)
It depends on the show. I 'gleefully' dropped Glee, but sometimes I'll drop a show when it airs and then just finish watching the episodes out of curiosity. I had so much hope for Heroes to rebound, alas it never made a full recovery.
rainbowren 17th-Sep-2012 05:08 pm (UTC)
I gave up on Gossip Girl ages ago. I'm liking the start of season 4. Besides as shit as Glee has become, I'll miss it if it ever gets cancelled because there's never enough musicals on tv :)
crazyfirecrotch 17th-Sep-2012 05:10 pm (UTC)
i gave up on the office.

masterofmystery 17th-Sep-2012 05:16 pm (UTC)
i suffer through the bitter end and hate myself for it. very rarely do i drop a show, but it's usually because of a huge cast upheaval (scrubs, er, etc)

Edited at 2012-09-17 05:18 pm (UTC)
luvthatdrtywata 17th-Sep-2012 05:28 pm (UTC)
it depends, usually i give up but with glee i haven't yet. i think if they had traded out the whole cast i would have stopped but i just can't let it go. i think though this season i'll end up phasing out, especially if they keep a lot of focus on rachel as i've never cared about her or her issues or her songs.
littlehayzay 17th-Sep-2012 05:34 pm (UTC)
if it's a show where there's some sort of 'big reveal' (like lost, but i loved lost) but i keep watching that trainwreck til it rolls right off the cliff, because i have to know what happens!

with stuff like glee (never watched it in the first place) but there's no mystery so idgaf about shows like that
totegay 17th-Sep-2012 05:39 pm (UTC)
dropped gossip girl halfway into season two, stayed with american horror story through that fucking horrendous season finale and will be tuning into season two. there is no rhyme or reason.
tres_francais 17th-Sep-2012 05:40 pm (UTC)
Dropped GG and Glee.
nazliy 17th-Sep-2012 05:48 pm (UTC)
if i love the show, i stick till the end but the others.. urgh i dropped glee ,gg and other shitty shows like a hot potato
saltireflower 17th-Sep-2012 05:51 pm (UTC)
I usually stay until the end. If I give up it's because a lead character has been ruined beyond recognition, or they're become too stupid to live. House getting with Cuddy was too much for me, so I refused to watch the final season.
forbidden_john 17th-Sep-2012 05:53 pm (UTC)
When it comes to ONTD, they give up on Glee but insist on still posting in every Glee post ever created to express how much they hate the show.

Move on.
fireprince 17th-Sep-2012 06:05 pm (UTC)
The older I become the less loyal I am, if I were younger I would have stuck it through but I have shit to do damn it. I'm not about to stick through with a show that's shit.
cruel_fortuna 17th-Sep-2012 06:13 pm (UTC)
I tend to be pretty loyal to shows no matter how shitty they get.
But I'm hoping Nashville on ABC ends up being good so I can drop Glee for that. ( I thought Smash would replace Glee but that turned into a train-wreck too but I'll still watch it for Jack Davenport even if I really hope his character falls into a vat of chemicals. )
riruka 17th-Sep-2012 06:13 pm (UTC)
I gave up on this show in the middle of Season 2. I loved Season 1 but as things went on it just felt like the show no longer had any purpose except to take bids from whatever artist wanted their songs on there. I gave it another shot when The First Time aired and I seriously had to walk away from second-hand embarrassment.

All this show is to me is a televised Kidz Bop.
these_eyes_lie 17th-Sep-2012 06:25 pm (UTC)
I pretty much gave up on Grey's Anatomy around season four. The first three seasons were so good. Funny, touching, compelling story lines, generally great acting and then it just spiraled into soap opera territory, imo.
natvach 17th-Sep-2012 06:25 pm (UTC)
I'm giving up on Glee. I also gave up on True Blood, and as much as it kills me to say so, I gave up on Doctor Who.
booth 17th-Sep-2012 06:28 pm (UTC)
sigh i stay loyal for some reason
iamglory 17th-Sep-2012 06:33 pm (UTC)
Depending....

I gave up on: Heroes, Supernatural, Glee, 90210 and 24

I stayed to the fucking bitter end (which I'm still bitter about) with LOST...I stayed...I was angry...but I stayed.
reinvent_love17 17th-Sep-2012 06:34 pm (UTC)
It depends on how long it takes me to starting disliking something, like I watched Glee for two seasons, hoping it might return to the same quality it was in the earlier episodes, but it never did. Season 3 sucked, but since I've been watching for most of the series, I feel I might as well finish it since I don't see it lasting much longer anyway. I take my time catching up on the episodes though.

However with Smash, I got only like, 4 episode in and found it predictable and boring, so I dropped that fast.

luckyluxk 17th-Sep-2012 06:35 pm (UTC)
People kept saying that Desperate Housewives was shitty after some years, but I always thought it was good. Some seasons were lame, tho.
fuck_of_nature 17th-Sep-2012 06:42 pm (UTC)
I stay loyal. I've never seen a show I've liked become unwatchable. Less charming, sure, but not so bad that I can't watch it.
ellaellaeheheh 17th-Sep-2012 06:47 pm (UTC)
I give up all the damn time lol I have no loyalty
agatharuncible 17th-Sep-2012 06:49 pm (UTC)
I drop them -- I did this with Glee at the beginning of S2, Pretty Little Liars, HIMYM, etc. with others, like Gossip Girl, I'm not terribly invested and won't watch the show for weeks but I'll catch up when I'm bored.

there are very few shows I watch regularly, tbh.
die2nitelive4ev 17th-Sep-2012 08:41 pm (UTC)
I stayed loyal to Lost and it was worth it and Heroes which wasnt worth it. I also will watch reality shows no matter how awful because it's like TV coke.
scorpionbreeze 17th-Sep-2012 08:58 pm (UTC)
I gave up on Glee, but I still can't quit True Blood even though I want too.
sophistiquated 17th-Sep-2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
Stay loyal. I even watched Heroes until the end, although I waited a few weeks before watching them. I still watch Gossip Girl (it's the last season anyways) and Glee - although I haven't watched the newest Glee episode.

EDIT: I thought of an exception - 7th Heaven. It started when I was like 9 and I think it took me like 7 seasons to realize how shitty it always was.

I'll give up but still watch the seasons I liked, and if it felt like there was still something unresolved there, I'll give the seasons I dumped some time and give them a second chance (still waiting to do that with Alias lol, can't believe how long it's been). That won't ever happen with Glee, but it did with Prison Break and Lost where I was able to binge with the DVDs. Some shows need marathons, they don't stay fresh week to week. And then other shows you just need time to lower your expectations and you can watch it ok, like I did with Numb3rs.

So lol I'll try really hard to watch a show the whole way through! :P But Glee is barely a show, it's like a half-brained arts and crafts project permanently in progress.
starchain 18th-Sep-2012 06:56 am (UTC)
I dropped several (90210, Gossip Girl, Supernatural, Suits), I never seem to be able to drop Glee, I come really close and then they do that one episode that brings me back in.
life_after_luv 18th-Sep-2012 07:35 pm (UTC)
I stick it out unfortunately. One Tree Hill went down the shitter quick and I stuck it out and I'm doing the same with Gossip Girl. Embarrassed to admit that, but yeah.

However, I did stop watching this show though, after the first season. I just listen to certain songs from time to time, to see if they are any good and unfortunately, they never are.

I dropped GG couldn't take it anymore.

OP, or anyone else that can tell me - how do you embed the tumblr videos/mp3s onto LJ entries? I can't find tutorials/instructions anywhere :/
agatharuncible 17th-Sep-2012 07:00 pm (UTC)
idk if there's an easier way to do it, I just tried this and it worked but ymmv.

- open a page with the entry you want to use. it's easier if you open that post only, like you would to reblog/like it.
- right click somewhere (not the mp3 player widget/video) and choose "view page source" or something like that. the actual text depends on your browser.
- look for the code of the widget you want to embed. it's usually under <*div id="entry">. I did this with a sound file and I copied it from <*centeR>, but I thiiink the widget proper starts with the "script" tag. copy.
- on LJ, edit your post's html and paste what you just copied.

I hope this works for you! if there's something you don't understand I can try to explain in more detail :)

(sorry about the *, LJ kept using it as actual code and it messed up the formatting of my comment)

I marathoned the third season since I ran out of stuff to watch. It had some good moments, but overall meh. I'm only watching the new season for Dean Geyer. That new girl, the one whose mom works in the cafeteria, in ND is so not that good - acting or singer wise.
surferxchris 17th-Sep-2012 04:56 pm (UTC)
I stopped watching this but I might tune in since it's another Brit tribute. I most just want to see Sam and Joe sing a song about threesomes. Maybe the vid will come out early and save me the time.
logan_lerman 17th-Sep-2012 04:57 pm (UTC)
why do they insist on heather singing
bodylikemind 17th-Sep-2012 05:05 pm (UTC)
mte she cannot sing
wickedwatch 17th-Sep-2012 05:48 pm (UTC)
She's fun to watch. But even the Hold It Against Me performance (think the vid came out a few days ago) was not good.
ashtraysoul 17th-Sep-2012 05:51 pm (UTC)
ikr
zizm0re 17th-Sep-2012 09:56 pm (UTC)
they only give her the shit songs where it's practically talking that they can auto-tune the shit out of, but i totally agree w/ u, she is awful
oneloveunited 18th-Sep-2012 03:23 am (UTC)
She was never supposed to sing in the first place but it means she can do solo performances, I guess.
saltonmycuts 18th-Sep-2012 11:54 pm (UTC)
Mte. she's horrible but she can dance though.
lovealwaysliana 17th-Sep-2012 05:00 pm (UTC)
why do they make Brittany sing? not even auto-tune can save that weak voice
hewontgo 17th-Sep-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
because Brit Brit always brings them great ratings
saltonmycuts 18th-Sep-2012 11:55 pm (UTC)
I think she was talking about the character.
