Doctor Who Trailer for The Power of Three

Did anyone else get bored during this episode? They did the pacing weird. I'm glad they addressed
the issue about the Doctor wanting to kill people so quickly now. I was going to throw something at the computer if it happened again.
That poor fella, Rory. He can't catch a break.

Here for Rory in his pants tbh.

aredhela 16th-Sep-2012 12:52 am (UTC)
I absolutely loved it. So glad we actually got the episode about the Doctor and his issues and not another Ponds/River drama.
isthisdesire 16th-Sep-2012 12:55 am (UTC)
I don't think we've seen any Doctor internal conflict stuff for a while. It was nice to see.
nin_o_zara 16th-Sep-2012 01:00 am (UTC)
I kinda liked how the Ponds were in it...but not too much. This episode focused more on the Doctor and how he was dealing with everything, which was nice.
breadprincess 16th-Sep-2012 02:09 am (UTC)
This. I feel like we haven't seen The Doctor this dark since "Dalek" in series 1.
gogeta1 16th-Sep-2012 04:32 am (UTC)
It was fantastic.
who_love 16th-Sep-2012 11:10 am (UTC)
Yes I loved it
patrioticguy 16th-Sep-2012 12:53 am (UTC)
The pacing was good until the last 10 minutes or so with the gun fight.

Probably didn't need the second "townspeople go after Kahler" scene so close to the Doctor's.
shangman 16th-Sep-2012 12:53 am (UTC)
I like the idea that the Doctor kills people sometimes, but it was SO heavy-handed in this episode, especially with his trying to kill him and then 1- seconds later not letting him die and protecting him at all odds. The episode was a bit boring too, IA the pacing was weird.

The next ep looks really interesting though, I love home-Earth episodes.
isthisdesire 16th-Sep-2012 01:00 am (UTC)
I like that it happens sometimes too, but it just seems so out of character lately. It was obviously addressed that something is going on with him right now, but usually we know more about how the Doctor is feeling. It's like some super secret Moffat plot that the Doctor is hurting b/c he misses the Ponds or w/e lol
shangman 16th-Sep-2012 01:23 am (UTC)
I don't think that the last episode was out of character, tbh I was like "YES, KILL THAT HORRIBLE OLD BASTARD".

But this episode just seemed very try-hard. The theme isn't subtle at all. The "evil" Doctor was all over the place, his sacrifice was just meaningless. The Doctor wanted to off him to make everything better, all Amy's whining about the right thing did was get the hot guy killed. They try for the big moral lessons but it just falls flat. The same thing ended up happening, it just took half an hour longer.

I like the idea that when the Doctor isn't around companions then he goes all weird and forgets about human morality, it's jsut a shame that it's not a little bit more subtle. IDK if it's a super secret, since every episode has at least one "HEY ARE YOU WEANING US OFF WHY ARE YOU SO WEIRD WHAT'S GOING ON" LOL sentence.
halfdressedliar 16th-Sep-2012 03:24 am (UTC)
I don't mind it as long as there's some sense to it. There was sense to it in this episode, but it seem to be brought on took quickly? Someone said that it's like the writer picked the ending, and then tried to fit everything to it. The Doctor's anger just feels weird when it seems like there's a time gap between episodes.

Ten's exit...

...was terrible enough to make people cry, I agree.
teetersslow 16th-Sep-2012 01:12 am (UTC)
the end of 10's era was some of the worst tv i've ever seen.
minyquai 16th-Sep-2012 01:17 am (UTC)
WHAT'S UP WITH ALL THE HATE IN HERE IS THIS OPPOSITE-VERSE HIS DEATH WAS AMAZING OMG I'M JUST crying thinking of it whatever y'all.
nin_o_zara 16th-Sep-2012 12:58 am (UTC)
I think Matt probably has another series in him before he leaves...I mean I think he is deffo doing the next one, but after that he'll want to move on.
ztrellitaa 16th-Sep-2012 12:58 am (UTC)
Until Moffat steps down as showrunner.
bodyline 16th-Sep-2012 01:31 am (UTC)
Matt's most likely going to leave after next series. Honestly I think he would have gone after this series if it weren't for next year being the 50th anniversary.

Really tho it doesn't matter when we get a new Doctor since the issue isn't with Matt/Eleven, the issue is with Moffat and those issues will still be there after Matt leaves as long as Moffat's still around.
minyquai 16th-Sep-2012 12:55 am (UTC)
tonight was so. fucking. boring.
mistyraven 16th-Sep-2012 12:59 am (UTC)
About to watch... not that excited but if it'll distract me from reading creepy Reddit threads then let's go.
fauxkaren 16th-Sep-2012 01:01 am (UTC)
So. How was it?

I generally like Toby Whithouse's work, so I am optimistic about it. But I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
get_gone 16th-Sep-2012 01:02 am (UTC)
Loved it
isthisdesire 16th-Sep-2012 01:06 am (UTC)
It's not a bad episode but I feel like if it was paced better and spread some things out better, it would have been a pretty solid episode.
gigglyvapidslut 16th-Sep-2012 01:16 am (UTC)
wild west iconography bores me to tears and i felt like fast forwarding through this one
bodyline 16th-Sep-2012 01:32 am (UTC)
What episodes has Toby done? I know he's written some but ngl I really just know him from Being Human.
fauxkaren 16th-Sep-2012 01:33 am (UTC)
He did "School Reunion" in series 2, "Vampires in Venice" in series 5 and "The God Complex" in series 6.
die2nitelive4ev 16th-Sep-2012 01:01 am (UTC)
Loved this episode and I'm loving this series it feels very Ecclestone with the internal drama and the campy one liners.
isthisdesire 16th-Sep-2012 01:06 am (UTC)
Susan would like you to respect her choices.
breadprincess 16th-Sep-2012 02:12 am (UTC)
I love when the Doctor talks to babies/horses/anything really.
daniellasaur_xo 16th-Sep-2012 03:11 am (UTC)
I thought so too. That moment when he was pointing the gun at Kahler (sp?) took me right back to 9 pointing the gun at the Dalek and Rose talking him out of it.
gogeta1 16th-Sep-2012 04:35 am (UTC)
I think that's why I loved it.
get_gone 16th-Sep-2012 01:02 am (UTC)
You guys sorry for going OT but I am broken, I just watched Hillsborough on ITV3 and honestly I am so upset/furious
isthisdesire 16th-Sep-2012 01:10 am (UTC)
I don't know what this show is but I'm sorry you are upset/furious.
get_gone 16th-Sep-2012 01:14 am (UTC)
Drama about the Hillsborough disaster
x_butterfly19_x 16th-Sep-2012 01:13 am (UTC)
Basically. I know. :(

Though on the upside we probably won't have to endure Kelvin MacKenzie on our tv screens for a good long while. Did you hear about the campaign to get YNWA to number 1 tomorrow?

nin_o_zara 16th-Sep-2012 01:15 am (UTC)
The documentary? I watched it and was totally shocked! I didn't know much about it before, but wow. It had me in tears.

Also, McKenzie is a right twat.
moddeh 16th-Sep-2012 01:04 am (UTC)
I love angry!11
Reminds me of 9. I also like how Amy called his ass on it.
breadprincess 16th-Sep-2012 02:12 am (UTC)
Yes, this episode reminded me so much of "Dalek" in series 1.
nin_o_zara 16th-Sep-2012 01:07 am (UTC)
I really liked this episode, I've been enjoying this series much more than the last few.

Plus the whole 'Western' thing was a bit different, with a Frankenstien/Nazi-esque twist. Plus, conflicted Doctor!
yurasama_love 16th-Sep-2012 01:08 am (UTC)
They killed Ben Browder and once that happened I lost interest.
I don't really like Doctor Who at this point. I'm sad.
I should watch the classics.
bodyline 16th-Sep-2012 01:33 am (UTC)
Yes, yes you should. Classic Who is amazing.
yurasama_love 16th-Sep-2012 01:40 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'm on Troughton now. I love him!!!!
blackwidow 16th-Sep-2012 02:20 am (UTC)
Same here. Once they killed him off, I was like, "eh".
mistyraven 16th-Sep-2012 01:12 am (UTC)
Shit... 5 minutes in and I'm not sure if I can take these accents. Not as bad as Daleks in Manhattan yet though
breadprincess 16th-Sep-2012 02:13 am (UTC)
They get slightly less awful as the episode progresses.
mistyraven 16th-Sep-2012 02:16 am (UTC)
Lol, yeah, I'm about halfway through the episode (had to pause it for a while) and it's better now
isthisdesire 16th-Sep-2012 02:19 am (UTC)
Are they supposed to be Southern accents? 98.7% of the time though, Southern accents are terrible lol
judeaslinksta 16th-Sep-2012 02:32 am (UTC)
As accents go, Daleks in Manhattan was the very worst. That cabaret girl and her "no more funny business" was so horrible.
fallengirl81 16th-Sep-2012 03:23 am (UTC)
the accents made me giggle. They were all Southern, but from different parts of the South. And maybe a few midwest twangingness. The preacher was more Georgia or Mississippi, the Sheriff was more Texas, and the town whore was I don't know what.
gigglyvapidslut 16th-Sep-2012 01:19 am (UTC)
mindnumbingly boring, i hate westerns.
couldn't care less about any of them, the whole town could have blown up afaic
the sheriff was a'ight
