Watch The Killers slay on Sept. 18th!

The Killers Promise Concert Surprise

The Killers have told fans to expect a number of surprises for their upcoming concert directed by Werner Herzog for the 'American Express Unstaged' music series.

The Killers have promised a host of surprises for their upcoming concert directed by Werner Herzog.

The group are collaborating with the legendary director for a September 18 show for the 'American Express Unstaged' music series, which will coincide with the launch of their latest album 'Battle Born', and bassist Mark Stoermer says they are ruling nothing out.

He told Rollingstone.com: ''[Werner] has ideas for someone crowd-surfing with a camera on. I think there's gonna be an animal involved. I'm sure it will be all done the right way.''

The show will be live streamed from the Paradise Theater in the Bronx, New York at www.youtube.com/TheKillersVEVO and www.amexunstaged.com and frontman Brandon Flowers revealed the group were ''honoured'' to work with Werner.

He said: ''We're so honoured to work with Werner Herzog. He's made some legendary films and we can't believe we got him to do this.''

This will be the 11th performance within the innovative live stream music series and sees The Killers follow in the footsteps of performers including UsherJack White and Mary J. Blige.

Last October, Coldplay kicked off their European tour by streaming a concert live from the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, directed by Anton Corbijn and watched by millions around the world.

The Dutch film director unleashed a host of artistic Extras on the crowd throughout the show including a shower of paper butterflies during 'Hurts Like Heaven', confetti during 'In My Place' and balloons unleashed while the band played 'Lost'.

dreamdate 14th-Sep-2012 05:59 pm (UTC)
you realize that the majority of artists' albums leak a few days before their release, right? kay.
supernature_971 14th-Sep-2012 06:14 pm (UTC)
Yes I do. I was more commenting on what I think of the album than the fact that it leaked, right ? kay.
dazonen 14th-Sep-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)

literally just got my tickets to see the killers in LA in two weeks before i saw this post! AAAAHHHH!!! CANNOT WAIT.

so far i've only listened to battle born once through and while i'm liking it, it hasn't totally grown on me. there are a few tracks that i thoroughly enjoyed on first listen, but not sure how i feel about the album as a whole yet.

it's interesting to see how their sound has evolved since hot fuss though, that's for sure.
sapphirespells 14th-Sep-2012 05:33 pm (UTC)
so jealous, I've still never seen them live!! Have fun!

And yeah, there are some great songs and some meh songs like always. My favorite is still Hot Fuss and the evolution has been interesting! They can never write another Hot Fuss though <3

pixiedivision 28th-Sep-2012 04:12 pm (UTC)
Sometimes i think even though theyre not as popular on mainstream radio they have evolved for the better, i'm happy theyre not doing the same thing over and over.
crazyfirecrotch 14th-Sep-2012 05:31 pm (UTC)
lets go see the killers and make out in the bleachers.
of_silver 14th-Sep-2012 05:34 pm (UTC)
I like that this seems like a return to Sam's Town. Hope they announce some US tour dates, but it doesn't seem like they'll be back until spring based on their current schedule. :/
twenty21one UGH14th-Sep-2012 05:41 pm (UTC)
Went on to buy tickets for the LA show at 10am on the dot, sold out
ryanchai Re: UGH14th-Sep-2012 06:58 pm (UTC)
:(

i was so nervous that i wasn't going to get tickets tbh. especially since pre-sale allotment had already gone to the fan club members.

kept refreshing and refreshing at 9:59 to make sure i got tix and luckily i was able to.

i'm sure they'll come to LA again in the spring, but i assume they'll play a much bigger venue

I am so excited for this. I will probably end up loving the album no matter what just because I am so happy for them to be back.

And I really hope they don't tour the US until spring because I'm away until December and I will be crushed if I miss the chance to see them!
demented_21 14th-Sep-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
I thought the new album was a total improvement from last one but tbqh I don't consider it a win to make an album that is almost as good as your second best effort (Sam's Town, the best being Hot Fuss imo. They were at their most raw and inexperienced and BFlow's vocals were sketch but they had charm and heart back then). I mean, that would be a win for an older band making their 15th album but they only have 4 albums and imo this is their third best. Eh.

imo it just sounds sooo similar to Sam's Town and while I find it pleasant I don't love it. idk idk. Maybe they'll fo full circle and their next album will be like Hot Fuss and I can love them again.
dreamdate 14th-Sep-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
There are still tickets available for this and I can't afford it. So upset.

I think the new album is amazing and Brandon's voice has improved so much.
ani_di_franco 14th-Sep-2012 05:59 pm (UTC)
I've only listened to Battle Born 2x, but I like it.
waffled_flambe 14th-Sep-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
Ughhhh I really wanted to go to this concert since I live a train ride away but I was camping when the tickets went on sale and when I came back they were sold out :( It would've been my first Killers concert too
dazonen 14th-Sep-2012 06:20 pm (UTC)
I fucking love Battle Born. It's kind of early but right now I'm thinking of it as their 2nd best album (after Hot Fuss).
wolfparties 14th-Sep-2012 06:39 pm (UTC)
ive been listening to this album since it leaked and right this moment. brandons voice sounds amazing.
my favorite is "the way it was"

Hhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggg so worried about this album. I have so many mixed feelings about "Runaways" because it's them but its also like they're trying to put Springsteen lyrics to an Asia song. Not to mention the main guy in Runaways isn't all that sympathetic when you think about it.

But ugh, I just want something to get rid of the taste of Day and Age out of my mouth.
overwhelmingly 15th-Sep-2012 12:48 am (UTC)
From a huge Killers fan that loved all of their albums, give it a few listens. I listened to it three times and HATED it. But then I actually listened to the lyrics and had to call my sister almost completely out of breath at how genius it is. Except two songs.
pixiedivision 28th-Sep-2012 06:39 pm (UTC)
I'm baffled at how many loyal fans of the killers hated day and age? Itdidnt flow the greatest as an album but there were plenty stand out songs? Losing touch, spaceman, joyride etc. Idg the big problem with it.
pixiedivision 29th-Sep-2012 05:56 am (UTC)
I am surprised so many hardcore killer fans hated day and age, curious...why?
odeeryme 14th-Sep-2012 07:04 pm (UTC)
their first two albums were awesome, then idk what happened
butterbadger 14th-Sep-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
The album grows on me each time I listen to it. I'm really loving "The Way It Was" and "A Matter of Time." Overall it feels like Sam's Town, which was the same as far as it growing on me until I absolutely loved it.

The teaser trailer for Battle Born had me SO excited for Flesh and Bone, and I do like it but I wish it had more of the teaser sound to it. I would kill for another album like Hot Fuss, though. "Mr. Brightside" does so much to me every time I listen to it.

They're still my favorite band <3
gerrysmyman 14th-Sep-2012 10:52 pm (UTC)
does anyone have a dl link for the album? thanks in advance!
tipping4_2 14th-Sep-2012 11:23 pm (UTC)
I'm in the process of listening to nothing but Battle Born on my iPod tbh

first listen through my general take was a meh with some gems but now I love most if not all of them. the dongs definitely grow on you and Brandon's lyrics are just agh to die for <3 the only one I'm still resistant on is Heart of a Girl

tho IMO there won't be a lot of singles coming from this. Flesh and Bone for sure, maybe Miss Atomic Bomb and From Here On Out. but others don't have enough commercial sound for single success
overwhelmingly 15th-Sep-2012 12:48 am (UTC)
Heart of a Girl brings down the whole album for me, I think I am actually going to delete the track
pixiedivision 28th-Sep-2012 06:38 pm (UTC)
I feel like they're such catchy songs and great too but not commercially appealing which really just sucks with the crap on the radio these days.
queenweasley 15th-Sep-2012 12:17 am (UTC)
I've come to realize that for me personally, nothing will ever be able to top Sam's Town. Hot Fuss is also good, but most everything they've put out since Sam's Town sounds so bland to me. :/ Sawdust was okay, though.
