There's also a news piece from one of Lawler's sons, Kevin, in which he talks about his father's recovery process:
Kevin Lawler says his father went without oxygen for about 20 minutes. They were worried he might have brain damage. A CAT scan showed no signs of brain damage and doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Kevin talked to his dad for the first time today and says he sounded just like himself.
He says doctors say his father is healthy for his age and they see no reason why he won’t be able to wrestle again. Kevin Lawler holds a wrestling event once a month at the Raleigh Springs Mall. He’s inviting wrestling fans to come out this Friday night at 7pm to pray for his dad and celebrate his remarkable recovery.
And lastly Lawler's friend and Collegue Michael Cole (who handled the situation brilliantly on Monday night was on Fox and Friends to discuss the incident yestersay morning:

He was given CPR starting right there at ringside, and continuing life-saving measures all along the way. His heart may have stopped pumping blood on it's own, but the paramedics would have continued CPR, and supplied oxygen using a bag to breathe for him, so oxygenated blood would still have been circulating through his system the entire time.
It's still amazing that he has no brain damage at all, because the amount of oxygen to his brain would have been less than normal, but it's not quite as miraculous as it seems.
That being said, serious props to the medical professionals stationed at ringside, Calgary paramedics, and the doctors at the hospital he went to. All combined to save his life, and he is a very lucky man.
Calgary paramedics tho? He was in Montreal!

idk how i feel about the idea of him wrestling though. maybe this was a sign that you need to stop.
What Cole said about his health and schedule is true though, he'd have to be medically approved every time he got into the ring to wrestle a match with the WWE, or he wouldn't have been allowed. It's part of their company policy for all wrestlers, not just the older ones.
He still wrestled all over the world, and travels a lot more than just to the RAW events he announces. I doubt he'll stop completely as long as Drs OK it, but I imagine he may cut back some on his outside appearances and travel a bit less to lessen the accumulated stress.
get well soon king
Michael Cole really did handle everything beautifully. I never want to hear him or see him that visibly upset again, though. It was like when you see your dad cry for the first time...you just feel like the world is going to end.
So happy that King is up and doing well with no lasting damage. I can't believe he'll be able to wrestle again! If I were him, I'd be too afraid of having a repeat episode. But something tells me King isn't as skittish as me. I imagine he'll wrestle again. Not for a while, but he will eventually. I at least hope he'll return to commentary soon. Michael Cole will sound sadder without him.

I can't even believe this, how is he a real person?? <3
As for a (hopefully temporary) replacement, I could see them bringing Josh Matthews over and doing double duty like Cole already does. Or bring William Regal over from NXT; he and Cole could work really well together, I think.
Bless you, Jerry.
