President Obama and Michelle Obama on 'Fifty Shades of Grey': 'Glad' for readers

Many readers know that a book has truly found success when reporters are sometimes more interested in what President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama think of “Fifty Shades of Grey” in a time of upcoming political elections, foreign policy issues, and the U.S. economy debates.

In latest “50 Shades” news, President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama were asked some not-too-intimate questions this Wednesday during an “Entertainment Tonight” interview about EL James’ hottest novel, “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Although the record-breaking book and its steamy contents still seem to remain mostly a mystery to Barack and Michelle, they certainly do know more about it than they had only weeks ago.

After Barack stated this his wife usually falls asleep pretty early in the night, interviewer Nancy O’Dell of “Entertainment Tonight” gave some advice she found helpful: reading “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

“I haven’t had a chance to really read anything lately,” Michelle answered, though she did add that she knows about the main plot of the novel.

I think everyone has heard what ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is about.”

As for the president’s take on the tale of love, submission, and dominance, he just said with a laugh he’s happy it has readers interested.

“I’m just glad that folks are entertained."

Barack had been asked about “50 Shades” before, though at the time he didn’t even know what it was. On “The View” this May, the president had been asked what the controversial “sex book that’s on millions of women’s beside tables at home” was all about, but he was understandably at a loss.

“I honestly don’t know that,” he said. “I’ll have to ask Michelle when I get back home.”
