I officially am watching Glee Season 4 so that I can contribute to the hate that Marley SHOULD be getting.
Like, White TV keeps shoving these basic white girls down my throat and telling me to identify with them and feel sorry for them because, oh look she has a fat mom and is poor. As if that storyline couldn’t have gone to a female character who wasn’t cis-gender/white/straight.
Like seriously, the way they tried to emphasize how super sweet and pure and innocent and simple she was by contrasting her with those ‘evil,’ bitchy minority kids who needed to learn that their place in the pecking order is below the needs of white cis-heteronormative society.
Her voice doesn’t even compare to Rachel’s, and as much as even Rachel’s character annoys me, she at least has a storyline that I can buy into and see that she has some kind of journey and has to overcome shit. This girl Marley is literally just an ordained white princess (without the ‘horrible’ Jewish thing or having gay parents) that the show begged me to love for exceedingly shallow reasons.
But of course because Western society worships straight whiteness, I know she’ll have tons of fans and tons of ppl going WOW I SO IDENTIFY WITH HER and it’s like, hey, let’s have a simple, sweet black girl, or a simple sweet asian transgender just trying to make it and being the star. WHY does the audience need to be given Marley to be the focal point of the show, as if to convince society that at the end of the day, despite all the gayness and ‘multiculturalism,’ this show still upholds that white cis-het hierarchy most American TV does.
It’s sad, and it’s pathetic, and I HATED how the other characters basically got shafted, especially my queen Tina, and oh, like Sam doesn’t give a fuck about Mercedes anymore?
Anyway, at the very least Marley has inspired me to keep hate-watching Glee at the very least so I can keep spewing hatred and vitriol to her horrible, vanilla boring ass. GTFO you JCPenny cunt.

i don't think the actress herself deserves the hate cause making it in hollywood is hard even when you are white, but i pretty much agree with everything you said. the people who write glee are officially on my shit list.

ughhh, this. everything, pretty much.

i'm still boiling over that. they basically CHANGED tina entirely just so she can serve (along with the other minorities) as a foil to marley.

"white cis-heteronormative society"
What the fuckery is this? I hate discrimination, and I hate even more this trend of creating new nomenclature in reaction to discrimination and oppression. I am heterosexual and I am against the use of labels against people. Creating new labels that are offensive in their own way achieve nothing in the struggle for equality.

oh my god, i know right?
i was like fine with the episode until she showed up and got branded the "new rachel"... at least lea actually had the talent to justify her being the lead. this girl was about as bland as you can get, yet she gets to be the new center piece amongst the rest of an actually diverse group? what a joke.
i mean, they paired her voice with lea's in that song like there was supposed to be some correlation? all it did was highlight how basic she was in comparison.

s4 was supposed to be Tina's chance to shine but I didn't believe that for a second. If they stomped all over her for 3 seasons, no reason to stop now.
I heard they pretended Brittany sings better than her in the episode.

I see where you're coming from and I do agree with you for the most part, but the way this is written (I don't know if this is intentional or not) makes it seem like you think that if you are white and heterosexual then you certainly don't have anything to overcome. I agree that there needs to be less minority bashing in general, on television and in the real world, but to say that white heterosexuals have absolutely no problems in their lives is giving the same exact message that Ryan Murphy is giving, just in reverse. It is all promoting pointing out the differences in people because of their backgrounds. Obviously a person's cultural background will show us that they have differences, and those differences are beautiful, so let's celebrate them instead of bashing them. Then maybe we can actually learn something about one another instead of trying to point out that being different is being weird. This, in turn, has to include all cultural backgrounds, all colors, all sexual orientations and all genders. Only then will we even begin to have a true understanding and acceptance of everyone.

all I have to say is I believe marley and jake were both introduced this season because Ryan Murphy realized Rachel/puck were meant to be and so he's trying to introduce Puckleberry 2.0 BUT he has to realize that it will NEVER HAPPEN! Puckleberry alllll the way!
Yeah, its not a big voice, but I don't care for huge voices on Glee(other than Mercedes) Lea's voice sounds way too processed on the show, hence why I preferred new girl's.
Eh, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It was okay, nothing special. But that may be because I was only halfway paying attention while visiting with my sister. Maybe it was actually terrible.
oblig:
but for some reason im watching tonight, i think because of kate hudson's character being a douche to rachel. woot
like it was just off and wrong. there literally wasn't one joke i even remotely chuckled at. also, maybe i just have zero tolerance for this shit because of what's going on with me, but "taking pictures" with some dude's girlfriend is nagl, new guy.

.....lol ok I'm done :D
Except I won't keep watching, even just to hate it. I don't think I could handle the boredom/rage it is bound to inspire depending on the eps.
and her hat is stupid.
lol
end post.
