CI-ARA has a New Track : "Sophomore"

With her fifth studio album, One Woman Army, set for a December release, attempts to generate a buzz have kicked in. Although "Sorry" had been announced as the album's lead single, a different song, "Sophomore," has made its way to the internet thanks to a leak from DJ Orator. If this is any indication of what's to come on One Woman Army, then she may need to head back to the drawing board. Banking on the sex appeal that made songs such as "Promise" shoot straight up the charts, "Sophomore" is nothing to write home about. With a Soundz-produced beat that sounds like a throwaway from one of her previous albums, Ciara boasts about the softness of her skin, her bed and her booty (her words, not mine). She retreads the same old ground she's been rocking with since her second album. Though the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" adage works for some artists some times, it's not where it's at for CiCi. We already know she can vamp it up, but it'd be nice to see her pull some new tricks out the bag.

Get ready to twerk it.

I'm not sure what album Like A Boy was featured in but I loved that era for her. I dunno what happened!

Ugh. I could only make it a couple bars into the verse. It's so dreadfully unoriginal and uninspired.

These artists who are established but not huge don't know what the fuck to do in the current climate. They are too scared to try something out of the box, and they just stick to the formulaic bullshit that may or may not hit depending whichever way the wind blows to the incredible fickle fanbase that consumes this type of shit. Even though I've never been fond of her music, I've alway thought she ha some sort of "it" factor so to hear something this generic is really unfortunate.

man, someone pretty high up in the music industry is fucking sure that we all will love ciara again someday. she's certainly had enough flop singles to warrant her fading away by now.

Why can't she just hire the popular producers and make dance hits like all the other popstars? I don't understand, she has such good stage presence but just overall no appeal.
