Leighton Meester shows off her back on the cover of British Cosmopolitan‘s October 2012 issue, on newsstands and available as a digital edition September 13. Here is what the 26-year-old Gossip Girl actress had to share with the mag:
On not wearing makeup: “I don’t care if there are a million pictures of me with no makeup. I love being able to walk down the street without it. We should promote women not having to wear makeup, or at least feel we can go out without it.”
On comparing her style to Blair Waldorf’s: “I’ve never seen Blair with the same bag, coat or shoes twice. I don’t know anyone who had that. I had two pairs of jeans [when I was a teenager] that I rotated. I wouldn’t trust myself with a Prada brag! I didn’t even want to change for gym so I’d wear sweatpants over my jeans, then sweat around the track for an hour.”
On being awkward around people: “If I’m not around close friends or family, I can get quiet and awkward, and it probably comes off as not very nice or just plain weird! It’s not meant to. I try to pull myself out of it but sometimes it’s hard for me to open up. In the past it was easier for me to trust people. Nowadays I judge pretty quickly: ‘You just want to be my friend because I’m on a TV show.’” This is true. When I got to meet her, we were surprised at how shy she was in person despite just opening her heart to us during a performance.

ugh seriously this is my life. I'm so shy and awkward that i come off as stuck up/bitchy/standoffish. I mean, i am standoffish, but im not stuck up. I just can't strike up a convo, people need to do it with me until i loosen up around them or i'll just stand there starring at the ground TBH.
sigh.

I am so painfully shy and downright awkward. I am incapable of starting off a conversation. I'm literally the girl who's standing there with her arms crossed and eyes glaring at everyone who walks by. And inside I'm like come to meeee, talk with meeee, haha. But, unfortunately, I just come off as cold and standoffish. I've been told this too.
This is also why I have also pathetically never even been on date with a guy. Because when one comes close I go all She-Hulk and look like I'm about to smash his face in, when really, on the inside I'm like swooning.
But you'd never be able to tell, heh.
And small talk sucks.
I have no idea how to respond to small talk. I'm just like...oookaaay. Bye.
Leighton is actually super nice though and doesn't come off like that at all, I once struck up a conversation with her on the sidewalk and she was really friendly and even recognized me when I ran into her almost a year later /csb
ouch they really did
lol i love her
like
I can't be assed to do it as a ~prerequisite for going outside but if I'm bored I'll bust out the lipsticks and the contouring powder (i.e. brown eyeshadow lbr) and fuck around for an hour
Love the cover
who doesn't
I like wearing it for myself.

otoh, I can't pull that with purple lipstick, that shit makes most people's skin look like it has flaws when it doesn't.
