Michael K. Williams admits to being high on the set of ‘The Wire’

Michael K. Williams has revealed that he was high on marijuana and cocaine while filming HBO’s “The Wire,” which ran from 2002 until 2008.
In an interview with the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Williams admits to have started using the drugs in 2004. The actor, who played Omar Little in the series, was dealing in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Newark. Though he told the newspaper that he only used marijuana and cocaine, Williams was getting himself into dangerous situations with felons, who were dealing or using heroin.
“I was playing with fire,” Williams told Kevin Manahan. “It was just a matter of time before I got caught and my business ended up on the cover of a tabloid or I went to jail or, worse, I ended up dead. When I look back on it now, I don’t know how I didn’t end up in a body bag.”
Williams, now 45, admits that he is clean.
“Eventually, I got so sick and tired of this charade. No one who was in my circle, who knew me as Mike, was allowing me to get high,” he said. “I had to slip away to do drugs. I had to hide it. I’d be gone for days at a time. I was lonely in that part of my life. I was broke, broken and beat up. Exhausted. Empty. I finally said, ‘I can’t do this no more.’ I didn’t want to end up dead.”
Williams can be found reprising his role as Chalky White, when “Boardwalk Empire” returns for its third season on Sunday, September 16, at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
Michael Pitt will briefly return for ‘Boardwalk Empire’ Season 3

Everyone was shocked when Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) gunned down his longtime friend and partner, Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt), at the end of season two. Though Jimmy is dead, it seems the character will be featured in the early part of season three.
TVLine’s Michael Aussiello has confirmed that Jimmy will, in fact, return to “Boardwalk Empire,” but it will only be in flashback sequences. There will be no newly shot footage for the character. Jimmy’s presence will mostly be felt as a weight on Nucky’s shoulder, as well as on that of his incestuous mother, Gillian Darmody, who has started her own brothel in the wake of her son’s death.
Aussiello has also revealed some more plot details about this upcoming season. Gillian hires Richard Harrow (Jack Huston) to raise Angela and Jimmy’s son, Tommy. But he is under strict orders to keep quiet about the boy’s parents. Margaret (Kelly Macdonald), along with the help of a cute doctor, becomes the leader of a women’s health initiative. Aussiello also gave a “gold star” to series creator Terence Winter for casting Bobby Cannavale as Rosetti. He says the character “makes Gillian look like Mother Teresa.”
Season three of “Boardwalk Empire” starts September 16 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO
