Weezer begins to make plans for a summer camp

With Weezer performing the Memories shows for more than two years, Rivers Cuomo says he's not tired of performing the old-school Weezer just yet but hints that perhaps one of the band's other highly regarded albums could receive the same treatment.

"There's plenty of people who want to see the first few albums so we're happy to do it," he says of the Memories Tour.

"Personally the next album I'd like to do is the Red Album which came out in 2008."

Cuomo says there are no new releases on the horizon for Weezer but for the band that hosted a festival on a cruise liner, they aren't done with its quirky ideas and Australian fans should start saving their money.

"We'd like to put together some sort of Weezer camp, but we're just beginning to talk about it, so I don't have any details yet," he says.

Like a summer camp?

"Yeah," he says, laughing.

They need to tour Japan soon instead TBH.

Rivers Cuomo is literally the nicest celebrity I've ever met.

He's just a really cool guy. Weezer is constantly playing free shows around here in Los Angeles. He's signed three cds for me and once at a premiere while I was already seated he came up to me and shook my hand because I had said, "hi!". Out of all the celebrities I've met he's just the nicest.

Was this before or after he started meditating? Cause he sounded like quite an ass from people who had met him before that.
rebeccamars 6th-Sep-2012 04:33 am (UTC)
I haven't seen/talked to him since 2010 I believe.
lizzka 6th-Sep-2012 04:36 am (UTC)
yeah well I know more than one underage girl (at the time) he creeped on in the 90's and then treated like shit afterward.

and yes, before somebody asks, all but one are asian.

They are still doing the blue/pinkerton tour? WHY DIDN'T I KNOW THAT?!

And no, they should add the Green album. It was better than Red.
ztrellitaa 6th-Sep-2012 03:18 am (UTC)
They are playing at the Arizona State Fair? That seems so random. I see a lot of Casinos as well.

Odd bunch, but always rather enjoyed them. They don't take their music *so* seriously, which is refreshing in an industry filled with pretentious "artists".

Don't know about the summer camp idea though.

For what it's worth, The Red Album is really really good.

I really only love Blue and Pinkerton, though I enjoyed Green and Maladroit well enough. Don't care for any of the post Maladroit output. But they're happy which is really what matters

weezer are my fav band in 94-98 when I was a teen but they are so godawful and embarrassing now it just about taints my fond youngster memories.

plus looking back, so many of their songs were fucking creepy and shitty regarding women and rivers has always been a major dbag.

There are so many songs that I find hard to listen to because I'm going 'Urgh, creepy, dnw'. Good tunes though.
pimentoplane 6th-Sep-2012 03:06 pm (UTC)
What songs, out of curiosity?
thevampireari 6th-Sep-2012 04:45 am (UTC)
Sigh, I'm such a Weezer-prior-to-Raditude stan. Rivers exhausts me.

I'm super excited that they're FINALLY bringing their asses back to Central Florida and I get to see them play two nights at HRL for Blue and Pinkerton!!!
