Simon is pissed

Claims The Voice fears Britney and Demi

Simon Cowell is furious at NBC for trying to sandbag next week's premiere of "X Factor" by adding a Wednesday installment of "The Voice" ... declaring, "This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business."

Simon tells TMZ, he thought he had a "gentleman's agreement" with NBC ... that "The Voice" would run Mondays and Tuesdays, and "X Factor" would run Wednesdays and Thursdays on FOX ... so fans could watch both.

Simon says NBC is turning on its own audience, forcing them to choose between Christina Aguilera's show and Britney Spears' new show. And speaking of them, Simon says, "Britney's not going to appreciate the fact that Christina -- who has been a bit of a rival -- isn't allowing Britney to have a night of her own."

Simon tells TMZ, he believes the move is as personal as it gets, because "The Voice" came to England and went head-to-head with Simon's show, "Britain's Got Talent" and got its ass kicked.

Simon says, "These guys have really got it in for us. It's nothing short of dirty tricks."

Cowell adds, "The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see 'X Factor' because they've heard how good the series is. They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato."

Simon says he doesn't think Britney knows yet, but when she finds out "She's going to be devastated because she's put her heart and soul into this."

As for Cowell, he says he's not scared, adding, "I can't bear it that the network is playing political games and playing with the audience."

Simon and LA Reid have been talking crap and taking cheap shots at The Voice and Xtina all year long, he even re-strategized his shows format specifically to beat The Voice. Now that NBC is fighting back, they're the scared ones? LOL, ok Simon.

X-Factor is smart. I have never watched the show, but I will definitely be tuning in just for Britney.
freakshow_60 6th-Sep-2012 01:29 am (UTC)
We all know who is going to come out on top again.
freakshow_60 6th-Sep-2012 01:29 am (UTC)
And Simon shouldn't speak for Britney.
flamed65 6th-Sep-2012 01:31 am (UTC)

vehiclesshockme 6th-Sep-2012 01:30 am (UTC)
Honestly I could see them being afraid of Britney's pull but afraid of Demi? I mean I have nothing against the girl but ...really? :-X
forevergold217 6th-Sep-2012 01:37 am (UTC)
I think it's both of them combined
I deffo want to see how both of them are like as judges and how they interact with simon and LA
andres01234 6th-Sep-2012 02:06 am (UTC)
well, of course Simon wasn't going to say they were only afraid of britney :p
rinanina101 6th-Sep-2012 02:09 am (UTC)
with demi x factor can bring in those teenybopper ratings

the voice doesn't have that, so they should be scared
ts231 6th-Sep-2012 04:48 am (UTC)
exactly. teenyboppers + britney stans + general public curious about britney = surefire success (at least at first)
jalie89 6th-Sep-2012 01:30 am (UTC)
He sounds ridiculous and needs to stop really.
xbellaxmiax 6th-Sep-2012 01:49 am (UTC)

Yes. It's beyond cray-cray tbh.
_scarlett_icons 6th-Sep-2012 01:30 am (UTC)
But networks for competing shows always shuffle their schedules to deal with competitors. That's how it's always been. Shut the fuck up Simon.
vehiclesshockme 6th-Sep-2012 01:34 am (UTC)
Get the fuck out of here with your logic.

flyingpigs_live 6th-Sep-2012 01:47 am (UTC)
neither, singing shows bore me. i just happen to love both ladies.
sassandthecity 6th-Sep-2012 01:31 am (UTC)
Simon is always so mad. He needs to start a church and find god because he is a Pressed-byterian.

i hope X-Factor wins tbh
jesusbitches 6th-Sep-2012 01:32 am (UTC)
Britney doesn't care as long as her check clears.
ritzyroxie 6th-Sep-2012 01:45 am (UTC)
I doubt that she knows what a check is tbh.
78ml 6th-Sep-2012 01:46 am (UTC)

bioshe 6th-Sep-2012 01:53 am (UTC)
LOL irl

I'm sure she has an accountant who has direct deposit for her and uses her personal assistant to buy things with a credit card. I wouldn't be surprised if she has no control over her spending and finances.

Stupid comment.

Now that NBC is fighting back, they're the scared ones? LOL, ok Simon.

ikr? Fucking flop ass show and I'm just waiting for him to throw Britney under the bus if the ratings don't come in. He's such a worthless piece of shit.
bradentastic 6th-Sep-2012 01:36 am (UTC)
lol he will. He's been using her to promote the show and he'll use her to tear it down if necessary.
fireprince 6th-Sep-2012 02:34 am (UTC)
"I'm just waiting for him to throw Britney under the bus if the ratings don't come in. He's such a worthless piece of shit."

I said this way back when she was announced, if this doesn't go well he's definitely gonna throw her under the bus.

faz1988 6th-Sep-2012 01:32 am (UTC)
I will say, Simon takes shots and digs at all his competitors, but does usually handle the rivalry with a bit of class. This move from NBC is literally for NO OTHER REASON than to kill Fox's numbers, which is fine, but a douche move nonetheless.

Ultimately, Simon is right that a lot of people who watch one of these singing shows watch them all (myself included) so they'll miss out in the end. Obviously The Voice will have the momentum from Mon and Tues and beat X Factor on Wednesday.

And it's true, even in the UK, The Voice rescheduled their shows last minute (similarly) so that their time slot would compete with Simon's show. I think it's fine to take fun little jabs in the press that are all in good fun, but this sucks, particularly since it's so last minute and there's nothing FOX can do.
abbie 6th-Sep-2012 01:44 am (UTC)
Yeah and that killed the Voice UK. It dropped down to as low as 5 million viewers while Britain's Got Talent was getting 13 million.

The BGT finale had double the amount of viewers the Voice UK finale did.
kydeon 6th-Sep-2012 01:51 am (UTC)
The Voice will either have "momentum" on the third day in a row, or completely exhaust everyone.
andres01234 6th-Sep-2012 02:11 am (UTC)
IA with everything you said
nicolaroberts 6th-Sep-2012 01:32 am (UTC)
lol at him trying to make this about britney vs. xtina

anyway, i'd be shocked if the xfactor didn't come out on top
jalie89 6th-Sep-2012 01:35 am (UTC)
It will probably be at the top and then settle out. I don't care either way because there are way too many of these singing shows on tv at the moments.
_scarlett_icons 6th-Sep-2012 01:37 am (UTC)
I honestly feel bad for Xtina. She finally finds some medium to be comfortable in, without anyone comparing her to anyone else... and this happens. It's what Simon wanted (not to personally attack Christina, but to create obvious rivalry). It's what he got, and all the stans and haters will come out in full force.
su20 6th-Sep-2012 01:39 am (UTC)
I honestly think the Voice will.
andres01234 6th-Sep-2012 02:12 am (UTC)
It's not him making it about Brit vs Floptina, it's NBC
