These articles made me lol
Geri Halliwell has spoken about her relationship with Russell Brand (finally, woo!) for the first time, revealing that they are having a “whirlwind” romance.
When questioned about the comedian – who has been digging her since they met at our Pride of Britain Awards – Geri admitted that they have been enjoying a fling over the last few weeks.
She told reporters: “Yes. It’s been a whirlwind.
“Is he my ideal man? I’m choosy. I want someone who’s trustworthy, sweet and kind.”
Er, have you even met Russell, Geri? Not quite sure he’s any of those things, but he is FIT and that counts for a lot.
Geri added: “All I want is to be in a loving relationship.”
We feel for Geri – she clearly just wants to settle down with a nice chap, but going for a recent divorcee who used to be a famous lethario and is realising his shagging potential all over again probably isn’t the best idea.
But, again, he really is fit.
And if it doesn’t work out between Geri and Russell, it’s probably for the best because their pets really don't get on. Shock horror, etc.
A source told the Mirror last week: “It was important to Geri that her dogs [Daddy and William] met Russell because any new man in her life first has to impress them.
Sadly, while the dogs took to Russell, his cat Morrissey had other ideas.
“He eyeballed the hairy beasts the minute they trespassed into his territory, taking an instant dislike to them, especially Daddy.
“He hissed and clawed at him and even attempted to bite him so in the end Russ and Geri had to put them in separate rooms.”
We know, all the breaking stories here, folks.
They are everyone’s favourite new showbiz couple and – guess what – the attraction was first sparked at the Mirror’s very own Pride of Britain awards.
Yes, just like Frank Lampard and fiancee Christine Bleakley and Paul McCartney and ex-wife Heather Mills before them, Russell Brand and Geri Halliwell made googly eyes at each other at what really is becoming the match-making event of the year for lovelorn celebs.
Let me take you back to 2008 when Russell was still allowed on the radio and Geri, 40, was a spring chicken of 36.
Having spent the night together (not in that way – yet) at the awards, the pair had a chat on Russell’s Radio 2 show the next day.
Co-presenting with comedian Alan Carr Russ was flirting outrageously from the start, saying of Geri’s greeting: “You do a much sexier voice for Alan Carr than you do for me.”
Not missing a beat, she quipped: “You’re very sensitive aren’t you, Russell? It was so nice to see you last night.”
Recalling their encounter at the ceremony, Russ, 37, said it had been an emotional night.
He added: “It probably would have been a good time for me to approach you in a seductive way: ‘Geri, I can cure you of anything you’ve ever worried about’
“Would it have been a good time to strike?”
Apparently so. “That would have been a good time to say: ‘I’ll be your knight in shining armour’,” she admitted.
A few exchanges later, Geri noted their phone chat was going a bit Carry On film and launched into a (slightly ill-advised) impression of Kenneth Williams.
Russ joked: “Imagining your face while you did that made me not want to have sex with you quite so much.”
Clawing back his attention, Geri told him: “You’re a dandy. You’re an Oscar Wilde of our time. I like it.”
“Except for my endless thirst for sex with women... ” interrupted Russell.
“It might be unquenchable,” Geri coyly agreed but: “Oscar Wilde said the only way to cure temptation is to yield to it.”
Crikey. That’s like waving an enormous red flag at a horny bull.
“That’s what I’m talking about, Geri!” Russell positively screeched. “Give in to it! Leave your phone number with the producer!”
Poor third wheel Alan then had to ask them to get a room before Geri offered to cut Russ’s hair, telling him: “I think you’ve got a beautiful face.”
Russ responded: “You say these things, and then it never becomes sex.”
The couple met again at the Olympics closing ceremony last month, and got together after Russ declared that he fancied the Spice Girls star.
Pals say things are already cooling but given that it took them four years to get together I’d give it a decade of break-ups and make-ups to really test the waters.
