This is one a small handful of new fall season shows I'm looking forward to checking out.
It's great to see Andre Braugher headlining this; and from the below trailer, I'm definitely digging what I'm getting from it, and look forward to that pilot.
An actor I think we'd all love to see get more and more screen time (both on TV and in theaters) Mr Andre Braugher plays the lead role in this new ensemble ABC drama titled Last Resort.
What's Last Resort about:
The project centers on the crew of the U.S.S. Nevada, a nuclear submarine, who, after disobeying a suspicious order, become fugitives. They land on the island of Sainte Marina, where they take over the NATO Listening Station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation.
I like how that reads. And no it's not a J.J. Abrams or Shonda Rhimes project, since both names seem to be attached to everything (nyuck, nyuck).
Although it does sound like something Abrams would produce doesn't it?
Braugher stars as Captain Marcus Chaplin, the commander of the U.S.S. Nevada, a combat veteran, leader and a patriot, but very much his own man.
And oh, by the way, Last Resort comes from Shawn Ryan, creator of The Shield - the same dude who's teamed up with Eddie Murphy to reboot Beverly Hills Cop as a TV serieas.
The Emmy award-winning veteran actor will likely be most recently remembered for his Emmy-nominated work on the cancelled TNT dramedy Men Of A Certain Age.
When this was first announced several months ago, I recall asking what the chances were that Braugher won't be the ONLY non-white actor in this new series' ensemble cast; based on the trailer below, it looks like, while he appears to be its star, there are some supporting roles for black actors especially, on the island of Sainte Marina.
First watch the trailer below:
Andre Braugher Talks New ABC Show In Sneak Peek
ABC's "Last Resort" is being hailed one of the season's best new dramas and its star Andre Braugher is excited to attack the dramatic role.
The show follows the crew of the fictional USS Colorado, a United States Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine. Under the commanding officer, Captain Marcus Chaplin (Braugher), the submarine defies an order to launch nuclear missiles towards Pakistan, which would kill 4.3 million people.
Captain Chaplin's decision costs him his job and when his replacement also questions the orders, the USS Colorado is fired upon and the crew is left for dead. They're now enemies of their own country, looking to survive and return to America.
In the exclusive video, above, Braugher says "Last Resort" is about the "psychology of people under tremendous pressure." He also says that Captain Chaplin is a multifaceted character: On one hand, he's "a leader and a commander" and on the other, he's a "rogue submarine commander who really has nothing to lose."
Braugher, well-known for his role as Det. Frank Pembleton in "Homicide: Life on the Street," has played a character in the military before -- in 1989's "Glory," he starred Thomas Searles, who joined the first black regiment in the Union Army.
Watch Braugher in the series premiere of "Last Resort," which airs on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

BTW, Dichen Lachman is also in it.

Enver Gjokaj needs a show, too.
I have to mention that Frank Pembleton is my favorite television character ever. Andre Braugher has my utmost respect and love for life.
The episode where he has the stroke gave me such anxiety omg
<3 your icon.
Whoever does the photoshopping at ABC needs to be replaced.
not my kind of show but i hope it does well
so I think I'll give this a pass
I do love the song they've been using though.
I would never have gotten this from the promos. Every time I see them, I'm just like, "What the hell is this show supposed to be about?"
