It Costs How Much?! Stars' Style Splurges

$50,000 EARRINGS

These megawatt Norman Silverman diamond sparklers might have just replaced Ben Affleck as the thing we'd most like to steal from Jennifer Garner.

$23,980 HANDBAG

Normally, when we talk about an investment bag, we're referring to one that costs a few hundred or maybe a couple thousand dollars, but for the price of Christina Hendricks's five-figure Farbod Barsum purse, you could drive off with a brand new Prius (or, you know, pay off all those student loans).

I could easily blow a lot on clothes or accessories if it was something I really liked and knew I was going to wear it a lot and that it would last. I'm sure thats not the case with a lot of celebs though, they probably wear it a few times and then toss it out. I think they also get a lot of free shit and borrow shit though.

omw that first sentence is nagl, going bed rn.
kalie_m 29th-Aug-2012 07:09 am (UTC)
I always thought that was the point of really expensive cloths, tbh. They are expensive because they are really well made and you can wear them forever. So you make investments in clothes that are timeless staples and can be worn years from now. Celebs don't follow that, tho.
juteux 29th-Aug-2012 09:16 am (UTC)
yeah, i only buy expensive bags because i carry them for years and years and they still look good. they're worth the money.
kalie_m 29th-Aug-2012 07:02 am (UTC)
I wonder how much stuff celebs actually buy? I always assumed that most if not all of a celebs wardrobe was gifted to them.
antoinettemarie 29th-Aug-2012 10:45 am (UTC)
For award shows and premieres, it is usually borrowed because of the publicity received in exchange. They might be gifted some things, but that is usually only for "it" celebs. Sure Hendrickson is famous, but unless that designer is a friend or a huge fan, likely she bought it.
kimberwyn 29th-Aug-2012 05:29 pm (UTC)
anyone who gets photographed gets gifted. That bag was def gifted

expensive shit freaks me out I remember when I bought my iBook G4 years and years ago with student loan money, I was just like JESUS CHRIST I AM SPENDING 1200 DOLLARS ON ONE SINGLE THING. IF I DROP THIS INTO A LAKE OR SOMETHING ON ACCIDENT AFTER 90 DAYS THAT MONEY IS COMPLETELY WASTED

plus I was paying in cash and I felt weird as shit having that much money in my hand

anyway, that was a computer, something I was to use all the time. if I bought clothing/jewelry that cost that much I'd have to wear it every fucking second for the rest of my damn life to feel like I wasn't wasting it
chrislola 29th-Aug-2012 07:30 am (UTC)
i spent over 1500 on a ring. the white and black diamonds are pave set, so i'm very careful with and contantly paranoid that one of the diamonds will pop out. i've had it for over a year now, so i'm not as nervous now when i wear it, but i'm definitely always inspecting that sucker. can't imagine spending what's basically a year's salary for most people on earrings.
violue 29th-Aug-2012 07:08 am (UTC)
aside from my laptops that are in various stages of decay, the most expensive thing I own is a photo of me with Jensen and Jared tbh
mari_lyn00 29th-Aug-2012 07:12 am (UTC)
And most of these things are ugly.
violue 29th-Aug-2012 07:13 am (UTC)
lol ikr I can't even look at this shit and be like "AWWWW MANNNN I WANT THAT" because eww
blood_opal 29th-Aug-2012 07:25 am (UTC)
I can't remember the last time I bought clothes. Must have been half a year at least. :\
chrislola 29th-Aug-2012 07:26 am (UTC)
i can't hate on the jewelry. if i were a celeb, i'd have a hard time not spending on that stuff. but i'm guessing that shit is mostly on loan.
kknee13 29th-Aug-2012 07:47 am (UTC)
you could make that sweater ashley tisdale is wearing for like $30
kknee13 29th-Aug-2012 07:51 am (UTC)
I bought a pair of chanel sunglasses with the huge mother of pearl c's on the side of them when I was 14 that were like $300 something and I hate the way they look on my face now and never wear them. I got them because a girl on laguna beach had them and so of course I had to, too. I like $5 f21 sunglasses better any day
gryffinclaw 29th-Aug-2012 01:54 pm (UTC)
Try selling them. List them on amazon or something even if you list them at 200 at least that is 200 bucks more you have to spend on something you like
moonsenorita 29th-Aug-2012 07:52 am (UTC)
The only two things I like are SJP's bag and Emma's shoes (it's hard to see the jewelry).
arrowtoes 29th-Aug-2012 07:53 am (UTC)
There is not a single thing in this post that looks worth the money it costs, though I bet most of them got that shit for free or on loan.

Well maybe January Jones' sweater, but that's only because I'm thirsty for fucking Fall already and those overlong sleeves look delicious rn, my wrists are calling for them.

wait I misread the price, it's $600?! I'd wear a goddamn Snuggie first before I spent 600 dollars on a basic beige sweater. Is it like a spirit animal to go with her personality, like a sentimental thing, wtf.

Perry and Sparks looking good there
bprorsum 29th-Aug-2012 07:57 am (UTC)
$400 is not a lot of money for a blouse nor an extravagant purchase.

That handbag that she bought for 30k is absolutely ridiculous consider her career history and projection.
fancypiink 29th-Aug-2012 12:47 pm (UTC)
it is a lot of money when you can almost buy yourself a whole new wardrobe at basic, low end stores.
lovetake_over 29th-Aug-2012 08:24 am (UTC)
all of these prices are making me cringe. i can barely justify spending more than $35 on a shirt.
sibilation 29th-Aug-2012 08:26 am (UTC)
I watched the LIz Taylor auction documentary from the BBC last night, and nobody here even comes close.
fabuleuxx 29th-Aug-2012 05:49 pm (UTC)
I had no idea there was a documentary. Did you watch it online? Link me if so pls
sibilation 29th-Aug-2012 09:05 pm (UTC)
Here is a link to Vimeo video:

And youtube:

I watched the one on Vimeo as it's almost always better quality than youtube, but I included the youtube link for the hell of it.
