Will "The Killing" Be Resurrected?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The Killing isn’t dead yet.

A month after AMC pulled the plug on the whodunit, two potential suitors with experience bringing axed TV series back to life — Netflix and DirecTV — are in early talks with Fox TV Studios to pick up a third season of the show, multiple sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

A rep for Netflix declined to comment, while a DirecTV spokesperson said, “We are constantly having conversations about bringing new shows to Audience Network, and we do take a look at everything that is available, but we haven’t made any decisions this summer in regards to new programming.”

This past spring, Netflix — which is behind the second coming of Arrested Development — flirted with acquiring ill-fated dramas The River and Terra Nova. DirecTV, meanwhile, rescued critical darlings Friday Night Lights and Damages from certain death.

In an interview one month before The Killing‘s cancellation, leading man Joel Kinnaman told TVLine that he believed that there was life in the show beyond the Rosie Larsen mystery that dominated the first two seasons. “We’ve invested a lot in these characters and want to see how they continue their journey,” he said. “I feel like Linden and Holder [are] just [getting] started.”

HFT. Reunite Linden and Holder, but don't bring back the Larsen's, Richmond, and Gwen.

so who killed the girl
punishermax 23rd-Aug-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
Low Ratings.
punishermax 23rd-Aug-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
Oh shit, sorry I thought you mean the show.

It was that douchebag campaign manager guy and the aunt.
isntdaveone 23rd-Aug-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
her aunt but it was an accident because the aunt didn't know that Ro-ro was in the trunk when she had the car go into the lake.

givemethepeasx 23rd-Aug-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
the sister was the on who did eventually but it was by accident because the blonde guy on richmond's team had hit her badly and put her in his boot
rubyboots 23rd-Aug-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
Jamie put her in the car because she overheard some ~political scheming~ and the aunt put the car in the water, not knowing Rosie was in it, in the hopes that it would leave her boyfriend (who was involved in the scheming) to run away with her like they'd planned.

I never watched the show but how was Michelle Forbes?
angriest_girl 23rd-Aug-2012 12:39 am (UTC)
YES PLEASE BRING BACK HOLDER
saltwatergirl 23rd-Aug-2012 08:43 am (UTC)
Yes! I miss that thug. ;)
rubyboots 23rd-Aug-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
Ugh please don't bring it back, I'll just end up watching it and more than likely being disappointed again.
isntdaveone 23rd-Aug-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
it DESERVED to be cancelled.

stringing viewers along like that, you don't do that shit now-a-days.
ljubavirakija 23rd-Aug-2012 12:43 am (UTC)
If that's the case, then why does PLL still have a fan base?

Also, The Mentalist with their never-ending Red John saga
isntdaveone 23rd-Aug-2012 12:45 am (UTC)
i don't watch those.
devlinacardigan 23rd-Aug-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
I'm so sick of Red John and I only started watching this summer on TNT. If I'd watched all 4 seasons in real time I would've quit the series by now.
professor_chaos 23rd-Aug-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
well there are a lot of tv shows that string out some mystery or other and if they are told right people will watch it. unfortunately as good as The Killing was as a drama they did mislead viewers who thought the murder would be solved at the end of the first season. hell, lost strung out their mystery for 6 seasons and those who watched all know how that turned out.

and for someone who's so into soap operas your comment seems....odd :-/

Okay, yah—I would go for a Linden/Holder buddy cop show.

Bring back rubicon. This show was so boring
ljubavirakija 23rd-Aug-2012 12:45 am (UTC)
YES!

However, LBR, Rubicon (sometimes) drifted into slow/boring territory with a few of their side plots
justrachna 23rd-Aug-2012 01:15 am (UTC)
Definitely. It was still loads better than the killing though, the payoff at the end was much more satisfying and it was never condescending to the viewer. Plus james badge dale!
humoresques 23rd-Aug-2012 01:28 am (UTC)
I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT. BRING IT BAAAACK.
erin_chupacabra 23rd-Aug-2012 01:36 am (UTC)
Came here to say the same thing. Bring Rubicon back or at least give James Badge Dale another show. I need more of him in my life.
givemethepeasx 23rd-Aug-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
they took way to long to show us the murderer. the plot twists got stupid after awhile, they were all totally unrelated and just served to delay the story even further. They easily could have cut all that business with the school teacher out.
professor_chaos 23rd-Aug-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
I'd rather see Joel Kinnaman in something else. I hope he's good in the Robocop remake but please lord don't do anything as bad as this again.

frenchverbs 23rd-Aug-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
The Killing is one of like four relatively new shows I actually watched, and I was so pissed that I sat through a boring ass first only for the killer not to get revealed.
lace_guitar 23rd-Aug-2012 12:49 am (UTC)
If it was brought back, I'd watch... mainly for Holder and Linden's relationship, but I'd watch.
devlinacardigan 23rd-Aug-2012 12:52 am (UTC)
I hope this happens. I was only watching the series for Linden and Holder anyway. Now that the Larson's are gone I can enjoy them even more.
tokyo_to 23rd-Aug-2012 12:53 am (UTC)
If they bring it back, it better come back and film in Vancouver.
georgiana08 23rd-Aug-2012 12:54 am (UTC)
I'm all for anything that gives me more Joel Kinnaman.
