Wynonna Judd's Husband Has Leg Amputated After Motorcycle Crash

Following a serious motorcycle accident that occurred over the weekend, Wynonna Judd's husband and drummer, Michael Scott "Cactus" Moser, has had his left leg amputated.

During the accident – when Moser collided with an oncoming vehicle – his left leg was "severed" says Judd's rep. Moser, 55, was then transported to a hospital in Rapid City, SD, where doctors were forced to amputate above the knee.

Doctors also performed surgery on one of Moser's hands.

"The outpouring of prayer and support from friends, family and fans has been a blessing to both Cactus and I. Cactus is a champion. I love him deeply and I will not leave his side," Judd said in a statement released Sunday.

Judd, 48, and Moser, 55, exchanged vows in June during a ceremony at the singer's home in Tennessee.

That sounds absolutely terrifying, I can't even imagine. I know he lost his leg but he's probably lucky to be alive after that kind of collision. :\

Heard about this while watching TMZ live, and apparently there is/was a chance of him losing his hand as well.

With everything, he's so lucky to be alive.

That's so terrifying! My dad's friend has a gnarly scar/missing muscle on his calf from being run off the road on his bike.

Those cagers are out to get bikers smh.

There was a really bad motorcycle accident like a block and a half from my house a couple years back. I saw some of the aftermath of it as I was going home. They were grabbing his leg which was completely detached. Like two days later there were makeshift memorials at the corner so he didn't make it. This was like right next to a hospital too. :\

My dad was at a stoplight off a highway and watched this girl about my age blow through a red light and kill a motorcyclist. :/

I say this as I'm about to get on my bike.

I saw something like that near my home few times already. I live too near to the street where people are going more than 50mph than the sign allows. I saw a small group of survivor friends once and they were visibly deeply upset about their friend and then few days later, I saw them again setting up a small memorial near the crash area. So sad.

when i was a child i saw a man get killed on his motorcycle by crashing into a house. scared me off of motorcycles for life.
danceonstardust 21st-Aug-2012 02:53 am (UTC)
My dad does too! Right on his knee and down to the calf. The scar is gnarly as well. In fact, when he had knee replacement surgery years later they couldn't place it properly so he has a bent knee for the rest of his life.

my mom had a below the knee amputation and will eventually have above the knee. It was probably one of the most painful things I've ever witnessed someone go through ever.
angelgurl21 21st-Aug-2012 12:36 am (UTC)
:(

why does she need to go above the knee now?
celica18l 21st-Aug-2012 01:06 am (UTC)
She's a lifetime smoker and it has ruined her circulation. She hurt her foot about 9 years ago stepping on a carpet nail and it never healed right. She had a ton of bypass surgeries on both legs to save them well the last failed and she had to have it amputated. Her circulation is still terrible and her vascular doc has said it's only a matter of time especially if she keeps smoking.

I had a tenant that had her legs amputated because of diabetes. Both legs right at the knee. Awful thing to go through.

I work in an operating room and this month alone we've had four amputations thanks to motorcycle crashes.
glass_houses 21st-Aug-2012 12:35 am (UTC)
omg! that's terrible :(

Sadly, they are the lucky ones. :/

motorcycle crashes freak me out so much. The other day I was on the freeway and this maniac on a crotch rocket came flying through pretty heavy traffic at probably 80 or 90 mph and driving like the biggest asshole ever, and he had a girl on the back in nothing but a tank top and shorts....and I was like, PLEASE dont crash, that is going to be fucking ugly. ickkkk

my coworker just got a bike and i keep teasing him he needs to wear a jacket. i know it's hot in the summer but it's so not worth that injury.
lovebats 21st-Aug-2012 03:48 am (UTC)
i encountered that same scenario a few weeks ago, but in pouring down rain. utterly terrifying

My aunt was in an accident wearing something like that. Probably thirty years ago but she had to lay on her stomach for a few months.
glass_houses 21st-Aug-2012 12:34 am (UTC)
Fuck that. Poor guy. He can still drum though, right?
sarahvma 21st-Aug-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
Apparently one of his hands was badly damaged and he might lose it as well. So... maybe not. :(
grande_latte 21st-Aug-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
He still can
the drummer from def leppard lost his arm and still drums
vicvinegar 21st-Aug-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
thats horrific
stupidsxyflndrs 21st-Aug-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
i will never have a motorcycle. even if you're amazing at operating it, stupid people still drive and a motorcycle just won't win in that fight.
vehiclesshockme 21st-Aug-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
Yeah that's how I feel too. They just make me nervous.
grande_latte 21st-Aug-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
Oh shit this is terrible
bluepassiflora 21st-Aug-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
That is horrible.

We have had so many bicyclists and pedestrian accidents and fatalities recently. With back to school, there will soon be more scooter accidents, too. Always where a helmet, folks. So many students on scooters don't and I don't understand why.
foryoursake08 21st-Aug-2012 12:55 am (UTC)
My bff rides a motorcycle (so does her father and her brother) and they all rejoiced when the helmet law was knocked down in Ohio. I could not side eye her hard enough. She thinks riders should be given a choice of wearing a helmet or not because it "restricts their vision". I was like sure, but when you don't wear a helmet 9 times out of ten your brains are getting splattered.

I side eye anyone who does not wear a helmet. I always check for motorcyclists when I'm driving because I know so many who ride. I'm scared for them because I've seen how stupid some people drive.
zxora 21st-Aug-2012 01:07 am (UTC)
I side eye anyone who does not wear a helmet.
So do I. People are insane not to, ugh....
theotherqueen 21st-Aug-2012 04:00 am (UTC)
Agreed. It's always weird to come to the States and see people not wearing helmets. It's mandatory in Canada and I just can't imagine why it wouldn't be.
