Alex to get a pretty big storyline on Grey's Anatomy this season

Grey's Anatomy's Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) hasn't had much luck in the love department since being abandoned by wife Izzie — and when Season 9 premieres, he'll still be "a dog sleeping around," says creator Shonda Rhimes. But not for long.

"This is the season I want to see Alex find true love — his person to land with," adds Rhimes. It's also possible Rhimes will delve into the character's dark childhood and finally introduce his abusive, drug-addict father.

jesus fuck it should not have taken 9 years to make this guy a human being. they always teased us with good character development and then took it away. i was so happy at the end of last season when he couldn't believe hopkins was making him an offer after his boards and the chief was telling him how to negotiate and told him "you're just not used to finishing first in a race and people are cheering for you" or w/e he said because FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Fuck yes! Alex is my favorite character and I've been waiting fucking years for this.

But I resent the implication that Alex hasn't found true love yet - That was Izzie!

But yay for meeting Alex's father! Please go down that route.

i disagree about izzie. they killed izzie/alex for good the second she started having ghost sex with denny. and tbh i kind of thought they were dead from the second she met denny and put him on a pedestal above alex. /dennyhater

It's about time! I'm still so mad we wasted all that time--and that beautiful wedding--on Alex/Izzie when she was just gonna leave, but they could make up for it with a great story. I was sure he was gonna get with that girl whose baby died, or else she was gonna flip out and kill him or something, but I hope it's something more interesting. (And I so wanna meet his dad because I am a sucker for characters with daddy issues, ngl.)

to be fair, the decision for izzie to leave the show came way after the wedding. i was happy for it because i was the biggest alex/izzie shipper until denny ruined everything and i didn't like them together the second time around.

I'm so whatever on ~true love being the be all end all. I've loved Alex's storylines more in the past season when it was about him and his platonic relationships and his career.

Obviously Izzie wasn't his ~true love. Because genuine love doesn't fuck with you and abandon you for years.

I actually really liked his storyline involving Morgan's preemie and how it ended up. It was important for him as a doctor and as a person.
