Downton cast throws Fiddly-Dee Ponky-Tonk some lovely shade

In the ever-continuing saga of Benedict Cumberbatch vs. Downton Abbey/British society/the world, three members of the Downton Abbey cast speak out. Sort of. A couple of hours ago, Hugh Bonneville (Robert), Dan Stevens (Matthew) and Allen Leech (Branson), all changed their twitter pictures to the September cover of Reader's Digest, which features Cumberbatch and the headline "Move over Downton". This is the issue that contains Cumberbatch's quote about Downton being "f***ing atrocious."

This is such a classically British way of responding to an insult. I kinda love it. (But LOL @ everyone here pretending they didn't say the exact same shit about Downton S2. If this makes everyone change their mind and start stanning for it just to be contrary, though, I'm down with that. I liked it, IDGAF.)

There's a difference between fans complaining about a show and an actor who is unattached to the project and has nothing to do with it calling it "fucking atrocious". That was unprofessional and a dick move.

This, this, this. I actually enjoyed DA Series 2 for the ridiculous camp of it all, but if I was an actor who claimed to have friends in the cast, I'd keep my mouth sealed tight. What he did -- God love him -- was just inexcusably unprofessional.

I liked S1 because it seemed like we were just observing. S2 seemed like it was attractively trying to entertain us. That was my issue. Other than that, I love Downton Abbey and forever will. Unless LG cheats. Then I will be so disappoint.

mte I paid zero attention to what others said about series 2 and I enjoyed it. Parts were stretching a bit but w/e it's still a good show.
