Bryan Singer claims his Battlestar Galactica movie can connect both BSG TV series

It's been a long time since we had an update on the long-delayed Battlestar Galactica movie. And the latest bit of news is a whopper. Bryan Singer is claiming that his movie's script, penned by John Orloff (Band of Brothers, Anonymous) will be able to fit in with both the 1978 original, and the reboot that aired in 2003. Sure! Why not?

In an interview with IGN, Singer explained that the current script was in rewrites, but can slip into any BSG TV series.

"It will exist, I think, quite well between the Glen Larson and Ron Moore universes. But that's all I want to say about it. But it's evolving quite well, and quite recently. I've been developing this for a while, and certain things came to fruition recently, and I hope to do it."

We're not sure how that's possible, but if it takes place during the back end of the Cylon wars, sure maybe. But still, it's pretty impossible to imagine how that can work in any satisfying fashion.

lol the captcha for the pic was "Happens again" lol k. Also nhf a BSG movie without the nu!BSG cast. ALSO, I got BSG on bluray from work today. I'm in heaven rn...

NO NO NO. It was so bad after season two.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:18 am (UTC)
What? I liked season 3. Hell personally I even liked the ending and I'm an atheist. I guess I'm nostalgic about that first reaction I had to the 150000 number (assuming you know what I mean)
lanavis 16th-Aug-2012 04:36 am (UTC)
What's special about the number?
sophistiquated 16th-Aug-2012 04:19 am (UTC)
3 was my favorite tbh
isntdaveone 16th-Aug-2012 04:19 am (UTC)
aww, i liked the entire show tho.

:\
mollywobbles867 16th-Aug-2012 04:20 am (UTC)
I love the whole series. Maybe it's because I watched it all at once?
inboots 16th-Aug-2012 04:21 am (UTC)
iawtc
evett 16th-Aug-2012 04:31 am (UTC)
only two things really bothered me

1. fat apollo
&
2. the angel starbuck ending

other than that it was a perfect show
mammary_glands 16th-Aug-2012 04:37 am (UTC)
this lie
andromakhe001 16th-Aug-2012 04:49 am (UTC)
I'd only want it if they could somehow correct how they totally fucked up Apollo on the new version, preferably still using Jamie Bamber. LOL They wasted that character SO badly.
lreservoirldogs 16th-Aug-2012 06:29 am (UTC)
Rude. The entire series was amazing.
frenchoral 16th-Aug-2012 07:07 am (UTC)
I agree, it was sooooo bad! I ended up hating every character because they all got so annoying
forbidden_john 16th-Aug-2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
Incorrect.
pacificway 16th-Aug-2012 04:18 am (UTC)
I'm not sure a movie can do this concept/these characters justice.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:18 am (UTC)
Can't.
pacificway 16th-Aug-2012 02:14 pm (UTC)
ok good lol
winegums 16th-Aug-2012 06:07 am (UTC)
I'm pretty sure Bryan Singer can't do this justice tbh.
isntdaveone 16th-Aug-2012 04:19 am (UTC)
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:21 am (UTC)
LOL @ me not wanting to spoil it above and you post this. ILU

And again, I fucking SCREAMED when I saw this. I actually didn't expect it at all. I assumed it'd be in year 30000 or something and we've migrated to Caprica looking for this ancient Earth or something.
awwwpeas 16th-Aug-2012 09:08 am (UTC)
that was me too. actually i'm rewatching it all cuz my bf only got half way through s4 back in the day. and he still doesnt know how it ends!! i want to have a camera set up i can't wait :)
winegums 16th-Aug-2012 06:34 am (UTC)
I was too devastated from crying (also, too drunk from ~drinking my pain away) to even react to this, until I saw the robots.

a_way_of_sin 16th-Aug-2012 10:26 am (UTC)
the finale can go diaf

mollywobbles867 16th-Aug-2012 04:19 am (UTC)
If it's not centered around a young Bill Adama, I don't care.

This reminds me, though, that "The Plan" is in my Netflix disc queue. I probably should finish Golden Compass so I can send it back.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:23 am (UTC)
lol The Plan was ok. Disappointing though, because it still doesn't explain what the plan was.
mollywobbles867 16th-Aug-2012 04:28 am (UTC)
Yeah, I've heard mixed things about it. Not any details. I didn't even watch all of the trailer because I want to go into it as a blank canvas. When it comes to shows I love, I have to watch everything to do with them.
winegums 16th-Aug-2012 05:44 am (UTC)
I was so disgusted by what they did with Starbuck and that stupid robot epilogue, I was nhf Cylons yakking, no1curr what their 'plan' was.

nemoteen 16th-Aug-2012 04:33 am (UTC)
Don't watch the plan. It ruins the series with its awfulness.
winegums 16th-Aug-2012 06:35 am (UTC)
DON'T WATCH THE PLAN.

If you had any love for the series at all after Daybreak, it will be ruined after that stupid unnecessary pos (and I love Edward James Olmos but even he can't save it)
wintourseason 16th-Aug-2012 11:12 am (UTC)
DON'T WATCH THE GOLDEN COMPASS. Total waste of time if you read the book.
emeyea 16th-Aug-2012 04:20 am (UTC)
I don't care how old this makes me sound - that picture is really not very tasteful. You rarely, if ever, see a dude doing something similar to titillate women.
egalitarianmuse 16th-Aug-2012 04:23 am (UTC)
I was just thinking that. I don't remember that picture looking that way but it's been years since I thought about it.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:25 am (UTC)
It was one of their original promo pictures. And idk it doesn't bother me at all. I love overly sexual in your face scifi. Then again, I grew up watching Lexx lol
emeyea 16th-Aug-2012 04:26 am (UTC)
I used to not think about shit like that, and over the last year or so - and especially after seeing Miss Representation - I see more and more instances of things women do almost out of requirement, things that men wouldn't do. Like that photo. You wouldn't see a man in a photo like that or even remotely similar unless the product was somehow directed at the gay community. The shit bothers me. It seriously bothers me.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:26 am (UTC)
She's a cylon (robot basically) and her overly pushy, strong sexuality was what made this shows' entire plot happen. I love it.
isntdaveone 16th-Aug-2012 04:21 am (UTC)
LOL, is that Blood & Chrome show ever going to see the light of day??
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:27 am (UTC)
Doubt it.
isntdaveone 16th-Aug-2012 04:21 am (UTC)
i doubt the cast/show of Bryan Singer's BSG would be invited to the United Nations.

ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:27 am (UTC)
Wait wait what is this? I only see the video title but I have BSG on bluray on right now and don't want to pause it. wtf wtf
isntdaveone 16th-Aug-2012 04:29 am (UTC)
it was almost 3 hours long.

here is the press release from 2009:

The United Nations is co-hosting a discussion with the stars and creators of the television show Battlestar Galactica today, exploring themes which are important to both – human rights, terrorism, children and armed conflict, and reconciliation between civilians and faiths.

“This event will show how skilful storytelling can elevate the profile of critical humanitarian issues,” said Kiyo Akasaka, UN Under-Secretary-General for Public Information. “Not only does it present an opportunity for creative discussion, but, more importantly, it offers a chance to deliver a message about the many harsh realities that still exist worldwide.”

The panel will be moderated by Academy Award-winning actress and producer Whoopi Goldberg, and will include Oscar-nominated actress Mary McDonnel, Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Edward James Olmos, and Battlestar Galactica creators and executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

I watched this last night by the way. Well, I still have about 20 mins left. It's so amazing. Thanks for posting.
aka_plynn 16th-Aug-2012 04:22 am (UTC)
Brian Singer, don't you botch this up, buddy. :| The naive, ever-hopeful optimistic part of me is all "FRAK YEAH!" but ... no.

LOL at the captcha.
lillyluna 16th-Aug-2012 04:22 am (UTC)
You're promising me a lot there bro.
egalitarianmuse 16th-Aug-2012 04:24 am (UTC)
Oh! I thought he meant it would be able to connect nu!BSG with Caprica. My bad.
isntdaveone 16th-Aug-2012 04:26 am (UTC)
he has a hard-on for 70's BSG for some reason.

it sucked.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:29 am (UTC)
lol I have a soft spot for it only because I grew up watching that one and basically refused to see this one till after it ended. When I heard the original BSG's music in Nu!BSG (the ending?) I was amazed.

That said, it was fucking cheesy as fuck and Nu!BSG >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 70's BSG
winegums 16th-Aug-2012 06:37 am (UTC)
lol 70s BSG was so ridic, it's aged horribly. Which makes laughing at the pressed fanboys even more fun.
inboots 16th-Aug-2012 04:25 am (UTC)
omw bryan, i'll forever have a soft spot for u in my heart, but i need u to stick to producing and banging porn actors

i was marathoning BSG but then i got to the third season and lost all interest within like the first two episodes. i couldn't take fat apollo.
azrielen 16th-Aug-2012 04:29 am (UTC)
He gets not-fat pretty quickly tho.
deja_vu822 16th-Aug-2012 04:33 am (UTC)
i figured but the fact they ever put him in a fat suit in the first place was too ridiculous for me
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:30 am (UTC)
He gets hot in season 4 again. Though he was never my type, I'm just watching the last ep and he's fit as hell.

Butttt if you're watching this show for eye candy only, it's probably not for you tbh. /noshadethough
mammary_glands 16th-Aug-2012 04:40 am (UTC)
fat lee is everything tho

whatisurdamage 16th-Aug-2012 06:20 am (UTC)
omg no girl stick with it plz season 3 is my fav

also hi long time no talk ilu
lreservoirldogs 16th-Aug-2012 06:33 am (UTC)
jessickah 16th-Aug-2012 12:15 pm (UTC)
BUT BUT

You have to watch the Adama Maneuver! Holy frak balls.

No, but the fat suit was random and ridiculous. But it was hilarious as hell.
landwarinasia 16th-Aug-2012 04:27 am (UTC)
tbh the last season of this show killed all my enthusiasm for it. In the end I was just watching to see what happened to Helo and Athena.
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:43 pm (UTC)
I liked it better upon second viewing.
azrielen 16th-Aug-2012 04:28 am (UTC)
Can it have fat Lee Adama in it?

Edited at 2012-08-16 04:29 am (UTC)
ladyofmachinery 16th-Aug-2012 04:44 pm (UTC)
Yes plz. fat Adama makes my life
