Rashida Jones Apologizes For John Travolta Gay Comment

Rashida Jones has apologized for a comment that she made implying that John Travolta is gay and needs to come out of the closet.

In an interview with Spinning Platters to promote her new movie Celeste and Jesse Forever, the 36-year-old actress discussed Frank Ocean‘s coming out and voiced her hope that a major movie star would come out next.

“A movie star. Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let’s do this,” she said.

Rashida took to her Twitter account to apologize for the comment: “Made a thoughtless comment about John Travolta. I sincerely apologize. Nobody’s personal life is my business,” she wrote.

“People are so precious about their careers"

That whole interview made her look like an asshole.

This is the part that rubbed me the wrong way worse every time I read it again and I can't exactly pinpoint why.

Probably because it's possible that she didn't work hard for hers.

Probably b/c she's had so many doors opened for her by being Quincy Jones' daughter

because she makes it sound so fucking easy

like it's all in his head and he's being too anal about a minor detail that may or may not mess with his career, who cares???

it's all in the same vein of liberal straight people being smug assholes and patting themselves on the back for being SOOOOOO beyond caring about sexuality, that since it doesn't matter to THEM about who's gay or not, it's obviously totes not that big of a deal. he should come out already, omg, no one cares! making it a big deal MAKES it a big deal when it's not! if gay people didn't make themselves out to be so different, then people wouldn't treat them differently and sexuality wouldn't matter!

never fails. oppression doesn't manifest itself the same across groups, but groups who are part of the oppressing ALWAYS say the same bullshit. they deny their complicity by saying there's nothing anymore to be complicit in.
