Word from the Television Critics Association press tour made it clear that Showtime is interested in a ninth season of their serial killer drama Dexter [what!!!!], even if producers and star Michael C. Hall are currently stating that the eighth season of the show will be the last.

However, two years still have to go by before a final decision can be made. For fans, the focus is really on the forthcoming seventh season of the series – which just debuted an official promo poster along with a few new images that give us our first look at cast members Yvonne Strhovski, Jason Gedrick and Ray Stevenson.

Complete with a couple witty taglines hinting at the obstacles Dexter and Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) will have to overcome after last season’s finale, the poster’s use of that signature cheek slice – could imply that the killer has become a victim of his own actions (or, possibly, that the hunter has become the hunted). Otherwise, Showtime is playing the story pretty close to the chest as the season seven premiere footage at Comic-Con only showed the first two minutes of the first episode – and held back hints about the forthcoming season. Even that footage wasn’t enough to give us a good idea of how Dexter is going to fix this situation, and the teaser trailer which showed fast-cut snippets in 15 seconds lived up to its name – as a mere tease for fans.

However, some plot points were revealed by executive producer Sara Colleton – including more accurate details of a new character played by Yvonne Strahovski. Beware of mild SPOILERS:


  “She plays this woman named Hannah, who took off from this small rinky-dink Florida town and ran off with this older guy and they went on this wild killing spree. So when they got caught, she turned state’s evidence on the boyfriend, he went to jail for life and she started a new life. Years later, she’s in her 30s and she will intersect with Dexter. I would say Hannah is a still water that runs very deep and is quite unlike any woman Dexter has ever known.”
  

Now THR has come through with four new images from this season – including our first look at Strahovski as Hannah, and Ray Stevenson and Jason Gedrick sharing a scene together as well.
