Keep on painting that picture. Just because you want me to be the villain doesn't mean I am. I have never said anything negative about anyones race. Please find me a comment where I have. I may tell people they are over-racting or that they are looking at something that's not there, but I am not racist.
Just because I don't believe in jumping the gun on calling other racist because they find it fascinating (from a science standpoint) that sharks changed their swimming patters based on slave ship routs, doesn't make me racist, or that person, or you. You just like to stir the pot when it isn't needed. Like now. Sorry lover, I don't find the show Girls racist nor Lena, I didn't find a person thinking the historical context of shark patterns interesting to be racist either. I do find people who purposely hurt/demean others based on their skin color to be racist. Otherwise it's ignorance. And guess what, we are all ignorant at something, it's just the way the world is.
I'm sorry you feel the need to follow me and try to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find my conversations in posts that were MADE to be race wank posts in which I usually state the facts and say that it's not as big of a deal as ONTD wants it to be... because these posts were made in a fashion to be race wars. I don't go around saying racist things and sometimes the truth or my opinion isn't completely PC, but I'll still say it. I'm not out to hurt anyone. Calling me a racist is more hurtful than I have ever been, so take a look in that mirror.
And what are my unchecked prejudices you speak of? I'm confused about what this would even be. I get we have had many debates in the past on this site, but you make it out like I have ulterior motives or that I'm purposely here to hurt peoples feelings. Time for me to burst your bubble. I'm not. I'm just a guy named Preston who loves celebrity gossip and doesn't enjoy seeing every single pop culture reference skewed into a race/sexism/bigoted conversation, like many of you drool over day after day. This site seems to be able to take each and every article and turn it somehow into a racial conversation.
I also have many other extremely positive comments in a lot of other posts that you could have for examples B-Z. Any Britney, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Pink, Robyn, Olympics, New York City, the list goes on and on. But you probably don't want to hear about me being a pleasant person, that might ruin your racist image me. I'm going to take a guess that the word document that you saved the link to that example in, only has links to negative situations between you and others. And somehow I'm the insensitive one.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
you got them good. they are always up in arms saying horribly ignorant stuff. although lena is obviously very prejudiced (lbr), everything else you said in this comment is the truth about ontd.
You can drop the whole "I'm a matyr and oppressed for having a different opinion!!!" act -- guess what? The people you responded to had an opinion too , which you completely dismissed. You basically told them they were wrong and that they should shut up, just because you're not attuned to more subtle racism.
If you don't agree that something is racist, that's your deal. There are plenty of times when I don't agree with something being racist on here, but I don't go around trying to police other PoC on what they can or can't find offensive, or try to spin the situation and say they're being selfish for simply wanting equal representation.
But you probably don't want to hear about me being a pleasant person, that might ruin your racist image me.
How old are you? Lol at you thinking racists can't be nice people in other capacities, or that complimenting a few pop stars makes your other questionable comments acceptable. Please. I work with plenty of nice, giving, charitable racists. The former doesn't negate the latter.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
I will, thanks :)
you are too fucking much.
That was the insensitive part, IMO. Maybe you're sick of all the POC going on and on about our boring issues that you don't have to care about, but the reason people keep talking about these things is because they are real issues.
Can you please point out my skin color more often in the future? Thanks.
Your issues aren't boring. I do care about equality for every person no matter what skin color you are. But the amount of times we are having the same circular discussions does drive me crazy. It really is a sensitive conversation for many people on every angle of the subject. Sometimes it's completely the right time and place to bring up the subject but other times it feels as if people are reaching to try to create a bigger issue than what's at hand or to make people say ignorant things.
I used to come to this site for witty humor, good gossip and some funny discussion. Now every time I open the comments section it's another discussion about how everything in this world is racist. Apparently everything... everything. And how since I'm white, I don't understand anything and that i'm privileged. I'm never here to bring anyone down so it's understood that I may get upset when this occurs, as I understand when it's the same from your angle.
I agree whole-heatedly that racial discussion/education is needed in this world, my only issue is that it happens too often in situations that don't need to be that type of discussion here. The example the person pointed out above is literally a conversation someone was having about slave boats changing shark patterns because of all the bodies being thrown overboard. Someone then comes along and says "Wow, that's fascinating" and then the person who posted about the sharks goes off on that person about being racist for thinking that's fascinating. That's not racial discussion, that's just calling an innocent person racist. The person was obviously thinking the shark situation was interesting from a scientific standpoint, yet the other person was taking their insecurities out on the wrong person. These are the discussions I will enter and call people out on. That person by the way is the person above that I commented to.
I'm not sick of POC going on and on, I'm sick of PEOPLE in general going on and on. I don't know peoples races on this site until they tell me. I don't find racial issues boring. If I did I wouldn't be commenting. And I do care about equality issues for >everyone<, not just POC, when the discussion is necessary. Lately ONTD has been creating posts for this discussion that are manufactured and aren't needed.
If you want to have a discussion in this world about race, the do it. Have a REAL discussion. But you're on ONTD where we like to see nip slips and read articles about justin beiber tripping over his shoe laces. So I'm going to take your seriousness with a grain of salt.
