Our University had a "Let's All Draw Mohammed Day" a few years back after the cartoon controversy and it was just like, why can't you fucking white, privileged asshats get your shit together and figure out some basic human decency?

It was a West-Coast Canadian university as well. Like, talk about the one fucking place that should be as inclusive and liberal as possible.

Most people were pretty disgusted and showed up to protest. They had a jolly time making stick figures and putting the name Mohammed on them.

They thought they were trying to make an important statement, but ultimately if you don't understand why someone's sacred value is sacred to them, maybe try asking them instead of making fun of it?

One of my classmates/good friends at the time was Muslim and went to the prayer room regularly and she wasn't seething with rage, which I thought was weird. When I asked her why, she said it was definitely not the worst thing she'd seen or heard when it came to her faith.

yikes, maybe I ask where?

I went to VIU and we have a pretty big international program with lots of middle eastern students, so I can't imagine it happening here

Nah, it was SFU. I LOVED my time at SFU, but that was one giant shitstain on our school's reputation and history. School officials should have shut it down.
