Jennifer Garner: Yes, Ben Wants More Kids

With son Samuel only five months old, his dad Ben Affleck is already hoping for an even newer addition to their brood.

“The fact that Ben wants another [baby] is true,” the actor’s wife Jennifer Garner told EXTRA Monday, adding that since giving birth to their third child earlier this year — they’re already parents to daughters Violet, 6½, and Seraphina, 3½ — it’s “been absolute chaos” in their home.

Given the apparent madness, it only makes sense that Garner, 40, is in disagreement with her hubby’s hopes.

“I can tell you that would be a pretty uphill battle with me,” she says. “I am not anticipating having any more kids!”

But she does appreciate how Affleck, 39, is there to help out when she’s busy with a movie role, including her most recent one, The Odd Life of Timothy Green.

“Ben took a break,” she says. “He came, he did the school drop-offs and pick-ups and bedtimes.”

tbf I think they have always alternated projects so one would be with the kids. I don't think it's unusual for Ben to do that. However I completely agree that it's gross the way the article makes it seem like he did some great favor by babysitting. Guys shouldn't get points for doing what they're supposed to do and what women do all the time.

My mom would rage at my grandma whenever my grandma said my dad was babysitting. She was like "He's not babysitting, he's being a father to his kids".

lol You and I share the same mom. She goes nuts when people say that...and I don't blame her.

Your mom sounds like my mom. I'm lucky I had her teaching me not to put up with that shit.

Has she really done many projects since getting pregnant with their first, though? It seems to me (not that I follow either of them super closely) that she has barely worked since having the kids, while he's done quite a few films either in front of or behind the camera.

I think she's worked pretty steadily in the last 6 years, just on crap films or doing supporting roles (also on crap films: Juno, Arthur, that movie with Ricky Gervais, etc.). I know she's also started producing. There's supposed to be a movie she's in and produced about butter carving and she's working on a Miss Marple project.

That's right, I'd forgotten about Arthur. What you're saying is what I'd thought - that she's sticking to more supporting roles.

And lol, I identify. Once I'm in love with a celeb due to TV fandom I will know way too much about them forever.

According to her imdb page she has done 11 projects since giving birth to Violet. Even though some of them are short that's an average of almost two per year. I get the impression that she doesn't work more than that because she likes spending as much time as possible with the kids, and when she does want to work Ben takes over. It seems like a pretty good system.

And that's fair enough. In the context of this discussion, though, it seems pretty evident that she parents more than Ben. Which isn't uncommon, of course, but it does always chap my hide a bit to hear that a man wants more kids when he's doing less than half the work of raising them. This may be partly supposition on my part, though - not claiming to be right. His IMDB doesn't look to be as busy as I'd have assumed. Although his roles with the films may have been much bigger than Garner's because I don't remember her fronting anything since Elektra.

That's a good point about it being easier to want more kids when you aren't the primary caretaker, and ia that it's annoying. I like to give them the benefit of the doubt because ontd shits all over them as a couple.
