a miley/liam megapost!

When 19-year-old Miley Cyrus announced her engagement to Liam Hemsworth in May, there were more comments about her marrying at such a young age than there were actual congratulations. But the former Disney star isn’t listening to her critics. “Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with,” she says in the September issue of Marie Claire. “I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement.”

It took breaking up “once or twice” for Cyrus to realize that the “Hunger Games” hunk was the real deal. She says she initially thought she was too “young and immature” to be in such a committed relationship with Hemsworth, who is three years older. But, she adds, “At some point you realize these people you’re hanging out with are your ‘party friends’; they’re not going to give a s–t about you in 10 years. Then you remember who you really want around you.”

After getting back together, Cyrus and Hemsworth began talking engagement and she even looked at some rings online. Still, she says that when he did get down on one knee at the 8,000 square-foot Mediterranean-style home they share outside of Los Angeles (which used to belong to her parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, who now live two doors down), it was a “complete surprise.” And the Australian native did a good job picking out the ring. The 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond set in a yellow-gold band with filigree detailing is similar to one she says she saw online and liked. “I just love that it’s old and has a story,” Cyrus gushes. “And I’m happy because it doesn’t look like anything else I wear.”

Becoming Mrs. Liam Hemsworth isn’t the only thing that Cyrus is looking forward to these days. The former “Hannah Montana” star is also working on a new album, which she claims will blow her pop star reputation out of the water, with Pharrell Williams. The hip-hop producer reached out to the teen after her Salvia incident in December 2010 when a video surfaced online of Cyrus smoking the legal hallucinogenic plant while at a party, and she was slammed for shattering her Disney good-girl image. “Pharrell said, ‘Don’t be offended because this is how I talk, but [I thought], That b—h is actually living,’” recalls Cyrus. “‘She’s not sitting there with her Momager’s chain on her door. I want to free that bitch. I want her out of her cage.’”

The “Can’t Be Tamed” singer then spent four weeks at Williams’ Miami studio, where they recorded a handful of autobiographical songs, which she considers her best to date. “I was talking to [Williams] like he was an older brother, and everything I said was going onto the track,” says Cyrus. “[I told my new manager, Bruce Flohr], ‘I don’t need the money. I don’t care if I make a dime on this. Let me make a good record.’ I got in there with Pharrell, and it was magic. Oh, dude, I’m so happy.”

But while Cyrus claims she doesn’t care if she makes any money on her upcoming album, she’s certainly grateful for the big bucks she’s made on past projects. “You always see the 70-year-old man driving the Bentley. He’s saved up his whole life and now he’s going to do something crazy,” she notes. “Liam and I are really lucky because young people usually can’t afford to do the things we do. You should be driving a Bentley when you’re young and hot. That’s when you look dope!”

The September issue of Marie Claire hits newsstands on August 21.

Miley Cyrus says that although her parent’s marriage has not been without its bumps, their long relationship has been a model for the life she wants to live with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

“My parents always taught me that you don’t put each other down. If one of you has an idea, it is always a good idea. The other day Liam said he might want to do a clothing line. If he wants to try that, f**k yeah — he should go for it! You put each other up, up, up,” Miley says.

“Also, if you’re fighting, you keep the focus on how you feel. You say, ‘I’m hurt,’ not ‘This is why you screwed up.’”

It’s hard to believe Miley is only a 19-year-old fiancée with her mature love lessons!

When Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced their engagement, we wondered what sort of affair the ceremony would be. Would Miley go big with her big day or keep it small? Details from the two on their planning have been scarce, but a source affirms Miley’s recent remarks in Marie Claire that the two are looking forward to something small.

“Liam and Miley feel the same way about their engagement and are on the same page – they both don’t care about all the theatrics of it, they just want to be together,” a source close to Miley tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively.

The source also says that there hasn’t been planning, yet. “They haven’t made any serious wedding plans. Anything they’ve talked about or “planned” has been completely just a thought and nothing more. They haven’t made one single plan,” the source says.

Our source even tells us that, as Miley, 19, wants her and Liam’s love to be the only focus, she doesn’t really care about how the wedding happens. “If Miley had it her way, she probably wouldn’t have [a wedding.] She loves Liam so much and would just rather do something quiet. Like she said, she doesn’t care about all the over-the-top shenanigans. She’d be fine with the piece of paper and call it a day.”

When 19-year-old Miley Cyrus announced her engagement to Liam Hemsworth, critics were quick to contend that the Hannah Montana actress was too young to marry. Despite the haters, Miley has no doubts about her future with the Hunger Games star and wears her 3.5 carat antique engagement ring with pride. “Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with,” she confides in a new interview with Marie Claire. “I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other.”

Though the couple has experienced ups and downs throughout their three-year courtship, Miley believes that their relationship hurdles ultimately brought them closer together. “Liam and I have a really good relationship. It took breaking up once or twice because I was young and immature and wanted to do things I hadn’t yet gotten to do,” she reveals. “At some point you realize these people you’re hanging out with are your ‘party friends’; they’re not going to give a shit about you in 10 years. Then you remember who you really want around you.”

For Miley, that person is undeniably Liam. Instead of lurking in the Hollywood club scene, the two prefer low-key nights at their 8,000 square-foot Mediterranean-style home. “We’re pretty much always here,” Miley admits. “I am super-antisocial and such a homebody. But everything I need is here. My parents are two doors down, I have a Pilates studio and a recording studio, and Liam can watch and edit his movies in the screening area.”

lmao so i guess the clothing line thing is for real?? crazy

The outfit in the first set of photos would be cute if she didn't cuff her jeans and wore ANY other shoes but that.

I really like Miley, she's blossomed in a beautiful young woman -- shame that she picks shitty movies but I still maintain Can't Be Tamed is one of the best pop CDs of the past 5 years.
ritaamber 8th-Aug-2012 12:03 am (UTC)
i used to mock her stuff and then a friend left their copy of that cd in my car and i was so sad when they took it back. i ninja bought my own copy. its a great cd

fromahippie 7th-Aug-2012 10:10 pm (UTC)
she looks amazing.

lucas has such a weird face.
sooz 7th-Aug-2012 10:10 pm (UTC)
do you think she is wearing one of those hair donut things? how is her bun so big for cutting off all her hair?! it's bigger than it was pre-cut.
makahakat 7th-Aug-2012 10:13 pm (UTC)
idk but i want to know the bun secret :/
lucciolaa 7th-Aug-2012 10:14 pm (UTC)
It's not really a bun so much as a poof. It's also not perfectly round enough to be a donut.
xtinkerbellax 7th-Aug-2012 10:22 pm (UTC)
No I don't think she wears a hair donut, not the right type of bun.
sheinhardt 7th-Aug-2012 11:19 pm (UTC)
i've been trying to figure this out as well lol
__orangeglo 8th-Aug-2012 12:24 am (UTC)
And how does she keep the hair in the back from falling out?? I usually use a clip but look silly, and hair spray does NOTHING.
poisoned_summer 7th-Aug-2012 10:10 pm (UTC)
she still sounds so immature
jasmina12345 7th-Aug-2012 10:12 pm (UTC)
she's 19 tho...that's expected lmao
slutzilla 7th-Aug-2012 10:13 pm (UTC)
you mean she sounds fucking dope!!!
rlmoonyk 7th-Aug-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
but she's so mature!! she posts inspirational quotes

lol idg why people claim she is super mature now
purpleplague 7th-Aug-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
the people who claim she is super mature are younger than 19.
purpleplague 7th-Aug-2012 10:31 pm (UTC)
she is immature, she's 19. who wasn't a huge annoying dumbass at 19. it's an awkward age. you think you are an adult and ~know it all~ and have the freedom to do pretty much everything (except legally drink if you live in the US). this tends to lead to arrogance, cockiness, and bad decision making. plus she's a rich as fuck, thin/pretty/healthy, has a hot bf/fiance, & is super famous age 19. that just intensifies the immaturity. most of us regret it in several years but it might take her longer...I think it generally does for celebs, since they are surrounded by so many "yes" people.
jasmina12345 7th-Aug-2012 10:11 pm (UTC)
werq betch

I mean, anyone who hates miley at this point is just straight up jelly tbh

sis is rolling in disney cash, she's got liam hemsworth's dick on demand, all she does is go shopping all day, her bod is fab etc

i can't with the random peep toe on that shoe. that's been going on for a while now, and i don't even get how people find that cute.
mari_lyn00 7th-Aug-2012 10:18 pm (UTC)
I can't stand peep toe shoes. Rarely do they look good imo.
megisthesex 7th-Aug-2012 10:12 pm (UTC)
"i'm super anti-social".....oic.

'Life's too short'? You can still be together without getting married.
xtinkerbellax 7th-Aug-2012 10:21 pm (UTC)
haha right?
wristtattoos 7th-Aug-2012 11:41 pm (UTC)
but they've been together for a few years already
_storysofar 7th-Aug-2012 10:13 pm (UTC)
I used to not be able to stand her, now I love her

She really is very mature for her age
heartstopper 7th-Aug-2012 10:15 pm (UTC)
...she really isn't.
teenageluminary 7th-Aug-2012 10:26 pm (UTC)
Maybe it's just the 19 year olds that I've known, but she seems pretty ~together.~ At the very least, she seems much more self-aware than Britney or Lindsay were at that age.
icangoforthat 7th-Aug-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
mte
_storysofar 7th-Aug-2012 10:36 pm (UTC)
I think she is, especially compared to other childhood stars.
lovepollution 7th-Aug-2012 10:23 pm (UTC)
You should be driving a Bentley when you’re young and hot. That’s when you look dope!

Yeah, that sounds super mature to me and not at all the kind of comment a 15-year-old would make.
in_styles 8th-Aug-2012 04:27 am (UTC)
I think she is too, tbh. But I'm 19 as well so I'm obviously "super immature and will regret~ my decisions in a few years", just like her. Sorry I'm not old and biter yet?
slutzilla 7th-Aug-2012 10:13 pm (UTC)
Her skin/hair/face/style/attitude is nagl
lucciolaa 7th-Aug-2012 10:16 pm (UTC)
idk for 19 she has a pretty good attitude. The majority of 19 year olds (or people under 25 in general really) that I know are really immature and insufferable.

ia about her style tho. Not a fan.
slutzilla 7th-Aug-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
she seems totally immature and insufferable to me though? Idg where people get the vibe that she's mature, her tumblr regurgitations about social injustice are all pretty much negated by her tweeting a bunch of body shaming shit and stuff like "I feel 13 when I have sleepovers with the gays". she's just as obnoxious as she always was only now she smokes pot and talks candidly about sex
kansassatin 7th-Aug-2012 10:15 pm (UTC)
ugh those pants and shoes.

love her and it's all ontd's fault.
stoodon_theedge 7th-Aug-2012 10:15 pm (UTC)
I don't know when or why I started stanning for her/them but no regrets~ Despite what people say I feel like for the most part she's pretty normal, and has a good head on her shoulders.
tothestars 7th-Aug-2012 10:17 pm (UTC)
I'm entirely the same, lol. Who even knows where or when my appreciation for them stemmed from, but it's here and I'm okay with it :P
stoodon_theedge 7th-Aug-2012 10:21 pm (UTC)
IA, mte, yasss, THIS, etc.
silentsymphonie 7th-Aug-2012 10:24 pm (UTC)
Yeah idk if she's like super mature for her age like some people are saying, but she's just normal.
wristtattoos 7th-Aug-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
i like her more as time goes on...never thought i would!
sgmajorshipper 8th-Aug-2012 02:51 pm (UTC)
Me too. Like, igaf about either of them, and yet I find myself clicking on either post, and defending them in others and...woah, I'm a fan now. LOL
flawlessa 7th-Aug-2012 10:15 pm (UTC)
lucas till has aged so fucking horribly.
shinebrighter 7th-Aug-2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
OMG he has, i didn't even recognize him
tothestars 7th-Aug-2012 10:15 pm (UTC)
As much as I am stupidly attracted to Liam Hemsorth and Miley, I can't help but adore them together.

She always has such lovely, positive things to say in interviews, and it all seems so genuine and well meaning. It's refreshing to read. idc, I apparently just really like Miley Cyrus haha. Never thought that'd happen, considering I've seen and heard absolutely nothing of hers. But she seems like a sweetheart.
stoodon_theedge 7th-Aug-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
Our comments lol.

No but IA with everything you said, she just comes off so nice and her and Liam are so chill.

Exactly my thoughts.
mellarks 7th-Aug-2012 10:16 pm (UTC)
I love her and them, but the idea of deciding to marry someone when you're not even out of your teens is so scary to me, no matter how much you love them. I know it works for some people (it did for my grandparents and they were married for 60 years before my grandmother passed away last summer), but it's terrifying to me.

Edited at 2012-08-07 10:16 pm (UTC)
lucciolaa 7th-Aug-2012 10:18 pm (UTC)
I just think it's impractical. How well can you know yourself at that age? I think people are still maturing and growing well into their 20s, I don't think you can really know what you want or plan your entire life with another person at such a young age.
xtinkerbellax 7th-Aug-2012 10:20 pm (UTC)
IA, I think people grow and change a lot in their 20s, it's when a lot of people "find themselves".
flawlessa 7th-Aug-2012 10:22 pm (UTC)
well I guess they've kinda catered for that, she did say she wanted a long engagement.
mellarks 7th-Aug-2012 10:25 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that's why it's scary to me. I'm only 24 and I'm such a different person than I was at 19. I love their relationship and totally believe they really are that much in love and could make it work longterm, but I hope they have a long engagement and let it be that way.
wristtattoos 7th-Aug-2012 11:52 pm (UTC)
lol my dad and mom met at 16&18...and are still together. it still happens. RME.
sgmajorshipper 8th-Aug-2012 02:54 pm (UTC)
IDK why people are so worried about it. Let her make her mistake if she wants. That's what being that age is all about. People claim she's immature, but the only way she'll mature is with life experience and making mistakes. Getting married can give you both.

I don't think I would have been ready to get married when I was 19(then again, I'd never even had a boyfriend at 19), but that was just 'cause I lacked life experience.
