BBC Commentators Scream And Jump With Excitement As Athletics Ace Mo Farah Crosses The Finish Line

BBC Commentators Lose Their Shit [off air] Over 10,000m Final ....

This is the moment BBC commentators went wild with excitement as athlete Mo Farah crossed the 10,000m finish line winning another gold for Great Britain.

The behind the scenes footage shows pundits Colin Jackson, Denise Lewis and Michael Johnson literally screaming and jumping for joy as Farah powered home to win the sixth gold medal of the day.

Lewis nearly broke her chair while Jackson held his head in his hands in disbelief at the day's achievements dubbed the greatest night in the history of British athletics.

It was the first time a British man has won in the Olympic 10,000m race.

The euphoria captured the mood of the stadium as the crowd roared home the long-distance runner to victory.

Farah, 29, collapsed to the floor after crossing the line and described the gold-winning race as 'the best moment of my life'.

The Somali-born athlete, who attended Feltham Community College and Isleworth and Syon School in London, then danced for joy around the track before greeting his heavily pregnant wife and daughter who joined him trackside after the dramatic win.

It capped off a fantastic evening for Team GB which won three gold medals in a row in the athletics.

Michael Johnson was cheering on Galen Rupp, who also ran a fantastic race coming in a close 2nd for Silver Medal position.
jazzypom Word, it's good to see the lottery funding being used well5th-Aug-2012 05:29 pm (UTC)
After 2004, the British really ploughed money into their sports programme. Look at the rewards now.

of course they put a ton of money into the sports program. they knew they would get the Olympic bid. did you see all the flack they were getting the first 3 days when they hadn't won a gold yet, and had barely won any medals?
jazzypom LOL, yeah.5th-Aug-2012 05:42 pm (UTC)
I think the British Judo are going to have a hard time keeping their funding, since they did (relatively) poorly during the Olympics. But it's good that they ploughed money into stuff like say, the gymnastics, I hope the success encourages them to keep the funding up.

Did the judo women not win a Silver and Bronze though?
jazzypom The women did5th-Aug-2012 06:12 pm (UTC)
The men washed out. If nothing else, the women's individual funding shouldn't be affected.

Great that it will go into the gymnastics, watched the mens pommel horse earlier. Such a shame that we missed out on gold so slightly! Both silver and bronze are great though
jazzypom I know, right?5th-Aug-2012 06:48 pm (UTC)
Louis Smith has been a true ambassador for British gymnastics, true facts. To go from one solitary bronze in 2008 to team bronze and an individual bronze and silver?

Go, team GB (that name is so naff, I cannot). Louis Smith has been a start throughout these games. Is he really going to retire after these games though?
hannahattack Re: I know, right?5th-Aug-2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
He's looking to retire?! I hope not.

He's influenced so many people this year though, so hopefully in 4 years time the gymnastics team will be even stronger than it is now
jazzypom Yeah, I know he's spoken about it5th-Aug-2012 07:09 pm (UTC)
Smith wants to parlay his talents into media/sports commentary in the future, he's said that at 27, he doesn't know what his body would be like then. I think if he'd gotten the gold, he'd have gone out on a high. I think with his silver, he'd probably want to try for gold again.

I do like Louis Smith though. He's very savvy, and not afraid to put himself out there as a spokesman for his sport. It doesn't hurt that he's handsome and charismatic, too. LOL.

But yeah, I wish him all the best, and hope to see more of him in the future.

What do you think about Katrina Johnson Thompson (wow, what a mouthful). I think she's a lovely, lively Scouser.

Just saw him get interviewed on BBC1, he mentioned coming back in 4 years, so that is good! I do hope he gets the gold then, he sure as hell deserves it, after such a draw these games.

And I think she's great! Young, and very promising for the next olympics.

(And she's adorable!)
jazzypom \o/ Yay!5th-Aug-2012 07:25 pm (UTC)
Louis Smith is such a gentleman. It will be interesting to see the new gymnasts coming up. It's so good to see Britain having a gymnastics culture, and it's no small measure to the gains Louis Smith made in Beijing in 2008.

Yeah, KJT is lovely. She's still a junior, I think?

Yay for seeing Louis in 2016!
