It’s been almost a year since we got our first look at Jeremy Irvine as the orphan Pip in Mike Newell’s new big screen adaptation of Dickens classic “Great Expectations”, but with a premiere at the Toronto Film Festival around the corner next month, it was about time we get our first look at British rising star Holliday Grainger as the cold and manipulative love of Pip’s life, Estella. The Playlist got their hands on the new photos, which show a dramatic and somewhat unexpected costuming on Grainger’s Estella.

Irvine’s Pip is a kind orphan who grows up to be a distinguished gentleman of society through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor, who longs for unattainable and cold beauty Estella throughout the book and must face the dark places that his mysterious fortune originated from. This adaptation of “Great Expectations” is one of two to be released in 2012 to celebrate Dickens’ bicentenary; a BBC miniseries with Douglas Booth as Pip and Vanessa Kirby as Estella aired earlier this year.

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Showtime entertainment president David Nevins gave a brief update on the status of The Borgias, the cable channel’s historical fiction drama.
Taking place in 16th century Rome, The Borgias revolves the Borgia family — their rise to power in the Roman Catholic Church and their struggles to maintain it. Created by Neil Jordan, the large cast includes Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, Joanne Whalley, Lotte Verbeek, David Oakes, Sean Harris, Peter Sullivan, Simon McBurney, Steven Berkoff, Aidan Alexander, Julian Bleach, and Colm Feore.
Showtime ordered a third round of 10 episodes in early May and season two finished airing on June 17th.
Nevins said that production is currently underway on season three and that the original plan was for the TV series to run four seasons. He said, “That’s still the likely thing, but I haven’t ordered season four and who’s to say we won’t try to do one more.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of the show? Does four seasons sound like the right time to end The Borgias or would you be interested in a fifth or sixth season?

NOOOO!!!! It can't end at just 4 Seasons. It deserves better...but to be honest...idk what they could do, they can't really do filler arcs or anything, so instead of Cesare/Lucrezia riding off in the sunset, we'll end up with Lucrezia's death from childbirth and Cesare's syphilis condition...damnit. Oh well...at least I'll still have Game of Thrones and Carice Van Houten to hold me over.

They're going to do his many illegitimate children though and end with his and Lucrezia's deaths in the last few eps.
I think 4 seasons is enough to get everything out without overstaying it's welcome.
At least she was pregnant for a couple episodes with bb!Borgia.

I kind of want them to show the child that he named after Lucrezia, though.
Also, I loathe Dickens and cannot remember if I read this one.
Also, lol that guy was in War Horse, right? He's so bland, perfect for Pip tbh.
Worst Dickens protagonist.
