Project Runway's Emmy Red Carpet Challenge




In teams of two, the designers was randomly paired up. They, then, had to designed a red carpet look with former Project Runway designers as their clients. Also, something about the color of a car having to be incorporated into the dress?

i don't hate the styling. the gold on gold on gold is a little boring but compared to the completely bland jewelry-less winner i appreciate the effort.

tbh I love Andrea's & Christopher's just going by these pics so I would have picked that. My second was the silver one.

I don't like the winning look... looks like something one would wear to a luncheon.

this picture actually makes it look pretty good

but it made even Anya look heavy and wasn't flattering at ALL. plus the hem was uneven and it had a ton of construction errors.

While I hate Irina and have no interest in defending her, according to Laura Bennett's blog, Irina was probably the reason they won. Apparently the back was even more awful than it appeared on TV and she was the one who suggested putting the chiffon to cover it up, and while she was an asshole to the designers, it was criticism they needed. That dress is really, really poorly made.

i feel like fabio & ven's dress was pretty, but it needed a belt or an embellishment of some kind around the waist.

It's basically the exact dress that I've been looking for but I always imagined it with a belt/rose gold accessories. Also I imagined wearing it at a wedding, not the Emmy's where it totally doesn't fit.....

And UGH agreed about Irina. I hated her on her season and she's even worse now.

I think an embellishment around the waist would have made the dress look even more "mother of the bride".

Irina's attitude was shitty, but everything she said was truth. That dress had a ton of construction issues.

also Melissa and Dmitry should've won. April looked GREAT.

the only thing I'd change about their dress would be to make the sleeves more fitted at the bottom (or more fitted as a whole)

I think that silver dress would have been more appealing if they'd removed the sleeves. It made her look so thick across the shoulders.

That first dress is really pretty but gurl, the construction on it is god awful!
I have such an impulse to rip the back off and sew it again so it won't pucker so horribly, ew!


Also, I like that this post makes me feel like I ain't missing much since I dropped this show after that fixed mess the was All Stars.

Puckering and shoddy hem work are the worst. Only a couple of people this season seem to know how to sew an even hem.

It's Kenley's same old silhouette, but much better editing and more fashion forward design elements, I think. In that respect I think they (Ven) did a good job of meeting the challenge of designing something Kenley would like while retaining much of their (Ven's) own aesthetic. You know Kenley would have made that in some ugly print and then added on a bunch of McQueen/Balenciaga style details, and then put some feathers and shit in her hair.

I hope your bones have a good track record for accuracy. I can't stand Ven! He is so arrogant, boring, and uncreative. He might belong on Top Tailor (more likely if their challenges didn't have deadlines), but not on Project Runway.

I seriously dont understand hiw you can say that! The dress is striking because it is a white dress against irina's tan skin, and that necklace is perfect but this isnt a styling competition. The construction is HORRENDOUS, and that is AFTER irina made thrm fix it. I mean. A dress should NOT pull across the hips like that. Especially not on such a slim girl. And the length is just wrong. It also makes her look like she has a pooch.
