she DIDN'T beat lochte. jfc why do people keep saying that? her last 50m was faster than lochte's but 6/8 of the guys in lochte's race also swam faster than him in the final 50m. Lochte's time for 400m IM was 4:05.18 and Ye's was 4:28.43. She was over 20 secs slower than him.

if you're going to accuse her of doping, please don't use "she swam faster than lochte" as your evidence because she didn't.

LOL, so many naive people in this thread. ALL YOUR FAVS ARE DOPING. I doubt there is a single 100% clean athelete out there. The testers cannot catch them, they have more money than them and a million rea$on$ to take something to get faster, stronger etc. As for passing a drugs test - urine tests are basically useless, blood tests are better but not perfect and there is still a tonne of stuff they can't catch. Let's all remember that Marion Jones never actually failed a drugs test.

The governing bodies don't actually care because they like winners, they don't like to look too deeply into how these people are winning. WADA is a toothless organisation fighting a loosing battle. In twenty years or so when former athletes start dropping dead early, we'll see who overdid their doping.

Not to break up the OP's view that this is a male vs. female issue but, the fact is the young lady came out of literally nowhere with her performance and win.
It's suspicious because of that in my eyes.
She may very well have pulled off this coup because of a changed practice regime, adrenalin, or any other number of variables that don't necessarily include doping.
But it's suspicious when an athlete, who has up to that point never gotten even close to that time or performance, suddenly does it.
It is unprecedented as observers of athletics see the stand out performers in the various sports show themselves as extraordinary over the course of many different meets and competitions.
She basically came out of nowhere with that showing.
It could be legitimate.
But, don't forget, Lance Armstrong was questioned and suspected for YEARS before any proof came along that he was doping. Because no one could understand how he was giving such extraordinary results.
It's great that she won if it's legitimate.
But it's not too much to ask if it was legitimate.
Not because she's a girl but because she simply never had this in her before.

I hate it when they do this. I remember that it was shit like this that caused them to do genetic testing on a female runner a few years back, and they found out that she was intersex. It wasn't something that was obvious and no one in her family knew that she was intersex, and when she found out, she had to be put on suicide watch, all because some other girls were butthurt that they couldn't run as fast as she could. Ugh.
