I've been watching old episodes of The Office when they air on TV. I miss when it was funny.

tobesurrounded 31st-Jul-2012 04:56 pm (UTC)
i don't watch the US office, but they probably should've ended like the UK version. 2 perfect seasons.
cickiz 31st-Jul-2012 05:02 pm (UTC)
the show went downhill for me when it became the Jim and Pam show.
cuteej4 31st-Jul-2012 05:08 pm (UTC)
I basically love up to season 4 and really like season 5. After that...it's fucking ridiculous
chuk_is_dazzled 31st-Jul-2012 05:50 pm (UTC)
thats what my bro says
yousaidlog 31st-Jul-2012 06:43 pm (UTC)
same.
rieren 31st-Jul-2012 05:21 pm (UTC)
Same. I've been rewatching it on netflix. Season two was so flawless and from there it just slowly went downhill. It's so sad what happened to it.

Search the Anthony Lane tag on The New Yorker. His Robin Hood review is a classic and his review for the most recent Spiderman was excellent as well.

Dave White over at Movies.com is hilarious.

My grandmother passed away over the weekend but everyone is more relieved than anything else because she's been suffering from Alzheimer's for over 20 years
thelovehater 31st-Jul-2012 04:57 pm (UTC)
:( sorry for your loss bb, I know what that is like.
mingemonster 31st-Jul-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
I felt the same way when my grandfather died. I'm sorry <3 it's always hard to deal with any death, but at least she's not suffering anymore
cuteej4 31st-Jul-2012 05:02 pm (UTC)
My family has kind of gotten to the inappropriate humor stage too. My dad was being grumpy and my mom says "He's having a bad day because MY mom died" and my grandpa (who has dementia) says "She was the love of my life...I should have a girlfriend"
orangeandblack 31st-Jul-2012 05:01 pm (UTC)
We've talked about your grandma and her illness before *hugs*
muffledlaugh 31st-Jul-2012 05:03 pm (UTC)
So sorry bb :(

My abuela has Alzheimers that's been just getting worse every year, not to mention diabetes that she refuses to manage and all of her 10 kids can't seem to get their shit together and figure out a way to help her without fighting with each other in the process :/
coulson 31st-Jul-2012 05:05 pm (UTC)
i'm sorry. :( it was the same with my grandfather.
crucified 31st-Jul-2012 05:09 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry. :(
cityxpretty 31st-Jul-2012 05:09 pm (UTC)
I am so sorry but I have heard that it's a huge relief when it happens. IDK if you believe in this stuff or not, but I've read stories of people who die and are brought to life and always wish the doctor hadn't saved them since the afterlife is so much nicer.
mercibeaucul 31st-Jul-2012 05:12 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry, bb. I too know what this is like - my grandma passed after more than 20 years of Alzheimer's too. :(

Hugs.

Which is better for pale blue eyes? Naked or Naked 2? D: I'm kinda leaning towards the first since it comes with the primer, but idk.
cityxpretty 31st-Jul-2012 05:11 pm (UTC)
I only have Naked, but from the looks of it, I like it better. I have blue eyes that are kind of dark but a lot of the shadows make them look nicer.
mhfromnh 31st-Jul-2012 06:32 pm (UTC)
this question amuses me since your name is a brown eye.
klmnumbers 31st-Jul-2012 07:37 pm (UTC)
I think that Naked I is supposed to be better for people with cool toned skin (because it has warmer colors), and blue eyed people, generally, have cool tones to their skin.

But I have blue-ish eyes, and I use Naked I.
xeroxicide__ 31st-Jul-2012 08:26 pm (UTC)
Idk if I'm color blind or something but Naked 2 has so many similar looking colors. dnw.

you guys i'm so upset. i applied for a job i REALLY wanted at my old school's library, had a great interview, my references gave me glowing recommendations, and my friend even knows the girl that interviewed me and wrote a wonderful letter of recommendation for me. i was SO SURE i got it. then i get an e-mail this morning telling me that while it was a very hard decision, they picked someone with library experience. i'm so pissed because it would just be answeing basic questions and signing out books. i went to that school and am so familiar with the library and everything. i'm so pissed that experience is such a deal-breaker these days, even for the most basic shit that anyone would get the hang of in like 10 minutes. ugh, i'm so upset rn. i was so sure. :(
cuteej4 31st-Jul-2012 04:58 pm (UTC)
I once applied for a job at my school's library after working there as a student for 3 years. I had library experience and was about to go to school for library science.

I didn't get it and I was there second choice. The one who got hired left after a year. What a waste.
forkmeup 31st-Jul-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
that is so infuriating! what was their reason? ugh, that's bullshit.

aw, i'm so sorry bb <3
orangeandblack 31st-Jul-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
My fingers are crossed that the "experienced" person fucks up and you get a call back in a few days being all "OUR BAD, YOU STILL AVAILABLE?" (Story of my life, no joke). I'm sorry, bb. That's seriously a huge disappointment.
cickiz 31st-Jul-2012 05:01 pm (UTC)
job searching is the most stress and rage inducing process I have been in. I just want to give up and then I see my bills : (
muffledlaugh 31st-Jul-2012 05:04 pm (UTC)
ugh that's so annoying and sucks so hard. i know that feeling all too well :(
thewunderland 31st-Jul-2012 05:05 pm (UTC)
I totally agree with that last part, fucking hell do you really need 5+ years of experience to be a secretary or a waiter? But in times like these, companies have the ability to choose from a really big pool of jobsseekers.

I'm sorry bb.
x_brittacular 31st-Jul-2012 05:05 pm (UTC)
:( that really sucks. I called my school's library about the work study position and have to fill out an application tomorrow afternoon. I've worked as a work study before but at the bookstore of my old school so I'm kinda worried. I hope this doesn't happen to me.
fwee_prower 31st-Jul-2012 05:06 pm (UTC)
ugh i was job searching last night. i got such a head ache. i'm so lazy when it comes to cover letters.
imkevinspacey 31st-Jul-2012 05:21 pm (UTC)
Similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago for a library position, I'm sorry bb. It really is horrid.
wingslapped 31st-Jul-2012 05:49 pm (UTC)
That sucks! Some libraries I've worked at have been guilty of that as well.
patiently 31st-Jul-2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
that happened to me. i had a great interview with 5 people and was so excited. got called back for a lunch interview with the Vp and then got a call that friday saying out interview was cancelled and they're hired someone else. i spent the whole weekend in bed crying.
williammiller 31st-Jul-2012 07:09 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry :(
williammiller 31st-Jul-2012 04:57 pm (UTC)
I'm watching BBAD from last night, and thinking about what I want to eat for lunch. Fun times, obviously.

i'm going back to england in august! we're spending four days in london, and then we're going back to staffordshire to spend time with ~family.

and my dad's booked tickets to see les miserables in the theatre and ugh i'm so happy <3

any other places we should go visit whilst we're still in london?
mingemonster 31st-Jul-2012 05:02 pm (UTC)
I wanted to see les mis so bad the last time I was there, but there wasn't time :( I'm jealous though, London is awesome!
imkevinspacey 31st-Jul-2012 05:16 pm (UTC)
Whenever I go down south I promise myself I'll see Wicked and I always miss out.
cuteej4 31st-Jul-2012 05:20 pm (UTC)
I saw Les Mis in London and I wanted to cry from how amazing it was. I've wanted to see it since I was a kid and this was my first time.

I went to Shakespeare's Globe which was a lot of fun. It's right next to he Millennium bridge which is featured in Harry Potter...and if you're a harry potter nerd, there's an adorable Harry Potter bus tour.

http://britmovietours.com/bookings/harry-potter-london-tour/

They also do regular movie tours as well as other themed ones. The HP tour was not that long but it takes you around London and you see the big touristy areas as well

Me too, 31st Julyer! How old? I'm 21 today.

It's 6.02pm here and I've just got started on the boozing. Am going out to celebrate in a couple of hours so hopefully I'll be beyond shit-faced within a few hours... what better way to ring in the my 22nd year of life than by spending the evening doing exactly what I do pretty much every Friday and Saturday night, i.e. driving my liver further into a state of cirrhosis.
mercibeaucul 31st-Jul-2012 05:05 pm (UTC)

I've been watching THR roundtables while doing some boring data entry at work and I have come to discover that...

- I hate hollywood speak.

- Reality show producers are up their arse and think their shit don't stink. Ryan Seacrest trying to sell KWTK as a show about family and all that lovely stuff was the last straw and it was the only rountable I gave up on.

- Zooey Deschanel thinks she is funny. Not only that, she thinks she is a comedian as opposed to an actress starring in a comedy series. The name of her site embarasses her and she won't admit to how heavily it is moderated.

- I love Peter Krause. Everything from his diahorrea story to referencing Robert Guillaume (best advice he ever got) made me love him even more.

- Christina Applegate is funny. And seems like an awesome person.

- Don Cheadle is funny, but kinda intense.

- I started to like Kelsey Grammer a bit.

- I like Up All Night's show runner and want her to be my friend, same goes for the killing's show runner and shonda.

I've loved Christina Applegate since Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, she does seem like an awesome person.
