ljubavirakija 26th-Jul-2012 12:33 am (UTC)
Seriously, IDU how people can hate Hugh Jackman. He's so flaw-free
megalixer 26th-Jul-2012 12:36 am (UTC)
I expect that most celebs are assholes even if it's not immediately apparent, but I would be sad if hugh actually turned out to be a douche. he always seems so thrilled to be doing whatever the hell he's doing.
arabian 26th-Jul-2012 06:10 am (UTC)
I have a good friend who lives in Hollywood and gives me scoop on celebs and she teased me with Hugh dirt and I told her I wouldn't believe anything bad about him, and she finally caved and said that yeah, he's pretty much totally awesome and nice and loved. :)
moddchicc 26th-Jul-2012 12:34 am (UTC)
Excited for Princess Anne
brownxeyedxdork 26th-Jul-2012 12:46 am (UTC)

moddchicc 26th-Jul-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
LOL, I only used 'Princess' as a reference to Princess Diaries tbh
so_chic_doll 26th-Jul-2012 03:15 am (UTC)
Princess of Genovia-- no wrong can be done.
megalixer 26th-Jul-2012 12:35 am (UTC)
so ready to stan this movie so long as it is anywhere near halfway decent! and judging from the one trailer it looks to be. I hope it doesn't get crushed because they're deciding to open it against the hobbit.

it's my favorite book and my favorite musical ♥
leitao 26th-Jul-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
Oooh, a musical . . . against the Hobbit? =/
megalixer 26th-Jul-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
yeah, idk what they were thinking. I know Les Miz is really popular and beloved, but I don't think any movie has a chance against new Middle-Earth movies.
winegums 26th-Jul-2012 12:44 am (UTC)
oh lord

The Hobbit versus Les Miserables

fucking Sophie's Choice :(
logan_lerman 26th-Jul-2012 12:37 am (UTC)
i'm really excited for this although i can't stand eddie redmayne's face
ljubavirakija 26th-Jul-2012 12:37 am (UTC)
Whane I heard Hollywood was adapting this movie again, I knew Anne would get the part bc of how she slayed here:
the_wolski 26th-Jul-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
i really want her to do like a fun musical tho

like i'm sure she's gonna be amazing from les mis, but her role is so heavy
leitao 26th-Jul-2012 12:39 am (UTC)
Can't wait to see this movie. This is kinda sappy of me . . . but the trailer actually made my eyes a lil misty. XD
megalixer 26th-Jul-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
given how much of a tear-jerker the musical is, I would have been worried for the movie if the trailer hadn't made me a little misty - if everyone is dry-eyed at the end of Les Miz, you're not doing it right tbh
leitao 26th-Jul-2012 12:43 am (UTC)
Hahaha, yeah, "Empty Tables" and the last song of the musical are sure to destroy me when I see the movie in a nice theater with big speakers! XD
aglows 26th-Jul-2012 01:01 am (UTC)
Don't worry bb every time I hear that song, I openly sob. It gets me every single fucking time.
mistycreed 26th-Jul-2012 01:24 am (UTC)
I cried from the trailer alone. I can't imagine what the actual movie will be like.
iamglory 28th-Sep-2012 08:54 pm (UTC)
Three months later...but the trailer made me cry. I literally was balling before Snow White and the Huntsman.

winegums 26th-Jul-2012 12:43 am (UTC)
I loved everyone in that movie sfm

On my knees rn @Uma's gorgeousness

And Claire, for once, actually made me feel for Cosette. idk if Amanda can manage that here.
drkshdw 26th-Jul-2012 12:43 am (UTC)
this mess.
megalixer 26th-Jul-2012 12:57 am (UTC)
This movie had a great cast, but the script was really awkward and was paced awkwardly. Fantine is only in the first 1/4 of the book and yet her plot took up nearly half of this movie.

Honestly, Les Miz is too long to squeeze into a traditional 2.5-3 hour movie, there's way too many characters that you have to keep for the plot to make sense and not enough time to develop them all. That's why the musical works so well, give somebody an 'I Want' song that's 3-4 minutes long, boom, character development! And leitmotives help the audience keep everybody straight.
modernelegance 26th-Jul-2012 01:00 am (UTC)
I think to do Les Miserables as a move it NEEDS to be a BBC/ITV/HBO Mini-Series. Bleak House and other Dickens' books have done splendidly, why not Hugo?
sherrilina 26th-Jul-2012 04:03 am (UTC)
Also biggest crime: THEY FUCKING CUT EPONINE!!!!! >:( (Like what is that, even?)

But yeah, IA--though there's a reason even the musical is super long, lol...

It always amuses me that the ABRIDGED version of Les Mis is the same length as Hunchback UNabridged...
jasonbeast 26th-Jul-2012 01:59 am (UTC)
So much talent squandered. By all rights, that should have been an awesome movie. Too bad they spent all the money on sets and actors and none on the script.
theactualworst 26th-Jul-2012 02:18 am (UTC)
"Academy award..."
"Academy award..."
"Academy award..."

And none for Claire Danes.
trella24 26th-Jul-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
I'm so excited for this movie omg!!
I I have hope in everyone!
winegums 26th-Jul-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
Here for my ginger prince Eddie (I can already predict the Cumberbatch-style shitstorm over his looks once promo kicks in, standing by with popcorn now)
heartxbroadcast 26th-Jul-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
Are there any good versions of this online?
reginageorge 26th-Jul-2012 12:53 am (UTC)
what do you mean..
heartxbroadcast 26th-Jul-2012 12:59 am (UTC)
I want to watch this musical, but there are so many versions of it... I don't know which one to watch first. Is the 1998 movie version of it any good? Should I watch a live one on Youtube?
megalixer 26th-Jul-2012 12:42 am (UTC)

I really like Anne and I think she's a damn good singer, but lbr she's actually a soprano, she will never be able to achieve the full belt-y glory of this song. Though I can see why they're doing a more subdued approach for a film version, as well.
reginageorge 26th-Jul-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
thank you!! this version is glorious and tbh the way anne sings it so softly just doesn't do it for me. QUEEN RUTHIE slayed it.
fromyourashes 26th-Jul-2012 12:56 am (UTC)
Ahh, my favorite.
coconut_theory 26th-Jul-2012 01:15 am (UTC)
Oh lawd my arms are covered in goosebumps. LOVE this version.

While I can appreciate the Anne's quiet, tortured approach, Ruthie OWNS the ending of the song. I'm sorry, but I feel like that part just needs to be belted.
theactualworst 26th-Jul-2012 02:22 am (UTC)
This song, this performance... I DIE.

To be fair though no one can top Ruthie's performance. Not even Lea and I LOVE her (her performance of "On My Own" is just as epic).
