I expect that most celebs are assholes even if it's not immediately apparent, but I would be sad if hugh actually turned out to be a douche. he always seems so thrilled to be doing whatever the hell he's doing.
I have a good friend who lives in Hollywood and gives me scoop on celebs and she teased me with Hugh dirt and I told her I wouldn't believe anything bad about him, and she finally caved and said that yeah, he's pretty much totally awesome and nice and loved. :)
so ready to stan this movie so long as it is anywhere near halfway decent! and judging from the one trailer it looks to be. I hope it doesn't get crushed because they're deciding to open it against the hobbit.
yeah, idk what they were thinking. I know Les Miz is really popular and beloved, but I don't think any movie has a chance against new Middle-Earth movies.
given how much of a tear-jerker the musical is, I would have been worried for the movie if the trailer hadn't made me a little misty - if everyone is dry-eyed at the end of Les Miz, you're not doing it right tbh
This movie had a great cast, but the script was really awkward and was paced awkwardly. Fantine is only in the first 1/4 of the book and yet her plot took up nearly half of this movie.
Honestly, Les Miz is too long to squeeze into a traditional 2.5-3 hour movie, there's way too many characters that you have to keep for the plot to make sense and not enough time to develop them all. That's why the musical works so well, give somebody an 'I Want' song that's 3-4 minutes long, boom, character development! And leitmotives help the audience keep everybody straight.
I think to do Les Miserables as a move it NEEDS to be a BBC/ITV/HBO Mini-Series. Bleak House and other Dickens' books have done splendidly, why not Hugo?
So much talent squandered. By all rights, that should have been an awesome movie. Too bad they spent all the money on sets and actors and none on the script.
Here for my ginger prince Eddie (I can already predict the Cumberbatch-style shitstorm over his looks once promo kicks in, standing by with popcorn now)
I want to watch this musical, but there are so many versions of it... I don't know which one to watch first. Is the 1998 movie version of it any good? Should I watch a live one on Youtube?
I really like Anne and I think she's a damn good singer, but lbr she's actually a soprano, she will never be able to achieve the full belt-y glory of this song. Though I can see why they're doing a more subdued approach for a film version, as well.
Oh lawd my arms are covered in goosebumps. LOVE this version.
While I can appreciate the Anne's quiet, tortured approach, Ruthie OWNS the ending of the song. I'm sorry, but I feel like that part just needs to be belted.
what a year for her
it's my favorite book and my favorite musical ♥
The Hobbit versus Les Miserables
fucking Sophie's Choice :(
like i'm sure she's gonna be amazing from les mis, but her role is so heavy
On my knees rn @Uma's gorgeousness
And Claire, for once, actually made me feel for Cosette. idk if Amanda can manage that here.

But yeah, IA--though there's a reason even the musical is super long, lol...
It always amuses me that the ABRIDGED version of Les Mis is the same length as Hunchback UNabridged...
"Academy award..."
"Academy award..."
And none for Claire Danes.
I I have hope in everyone!

To be fair though no one can top Ruthie's performance. Not even Lea and I LOVE her (her performance of "On My Own" is just as epic).
