Seems these Ask Amy videos will be a series. This week, Amy talks stress...while in a bathtub, and doesn't know why.

YOGA :)
So much harder than some people think, it's relaxing and I'm hella flexible now.
suburban_war 18th-Jul-2012 05:26 am (UTC)
That's very good to know! I want to join a yoga club or something when I get back to school.

Saving this to watch first thing in the morning. I need an icon of my favorite Pawnee Goddess.
wheezy_wazlib 18th-Jul-2012 05:17 am (UTC)
I deal with it by eating chocolate, tbh. And it shames me to say this but I sometimes take it out on other people by snapping at them, having an attitude, etc. :(

flyingpigs_live 18th-Jul-2012 05:18 am (UTC)
lol so do i
one_hoopy_frood 18th-Jul-2012 05:18 am (UTC)
I snap at people and eat chocolate too. D: Or just cry a lot.
actxappalledx 18th-Jul-2012 05:19 am (UTC)
this is me
rhapsodeeinblue 18th-Jul-2012 05:58 am (UTC)
Yep, I just cry, ngl.
sooz 18th-Jul-2012 05:20 am (UTC)
i also get snappy and eat chocolate
hannahgrace456 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
I either get really snappy or really tired and cry. If it's you're lucky day I might just do both.
superhetoric 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
i used to take it out on people. i ruined a few friendships that way =/
it's a pretty bad habit imo, i'm glad i learned how to not do it anymore
lalameanslove 18th-Jul-2012 05:28 am (UTC)
lol when I was young and had a bad/stressful day everyone in my house would know because I would slam everything in sight in the kitchen. Drawers, cabinets, the fridge, dishes etc. would feel my wrath and mom would always yell at me lol.
feverously 18th-Jul-2012 12:44 pm (UTC)
I overeat too and I lash out at people (mainly my mom), but I end up apologizing. The only thing that ever really stresses me out (to the point of crying) is my health, which is ironic because you're supposed to de-stress yourself in order to get better. But I have a host of medical conditions, problems, etc. that will get worse as I'm older and sometimes I throw myself a pity party and I'm like NO ONE UNDERSTANDS MY PAIN!!1 DOCTORS VISITS, TESTING, CONSTANT TREATMENT, SURGERIES, ETC!!! And than when my mom offers me advice I'm like YOU'VE BEEN RELATIVELY HEALTHY ALL YOUR LIFE WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HAVING A SHITFEST BODY!!!

So I usually just sulk, eat lots of chcocolate, and making loud groaning/grunting noises (because I'm overly dramatic sometimes), and commiserate with my friends who also have health issues. It helps sometimes.

But never Google your systems, ever. lol.
superpchan 18th-Jul-2012 05:17 am (UTC)
I sometimes meditate, but otherwise I'm always on edge. I think I got it from my mother.
arminaa 18th-Jul-2012 05:20 am (UTC)
I love her sfm
superhetoric 18th-Jul-2012 05:21 am (UTC)
i used to deal with stress by working out. now i eat. i hate my life.
swissbeauty23 18th-Jul-2012 05:21 am (UTC)
music, tbh
hannahgrace456 18th-Jul-2012 05:21 am (UTC)
I work out or do yoga. Nothing else really calms me down. There have actually been times where I'm at the stretching bar or on the spin bike and I start crying because I just need to release.

I had one of those moments a few weeks ago and it was embarrassing, but felt so good.
luvherbones 18th-Jul-2012 05:35 am (UTC)
i used to cry after running... such a good release. do what you gotta do!
hannahgrace456 18th-Jul-2012 05:45 am (UTC)
Yep, gotta get rid of it somehow. I've cried while running, at the gym no less, and that was just... no. I did feel better afterwards though.
hershelwalker 18th-Jul-2012 06:05 am (UTC)
crying feels SO GOOD. I love crying. unfortunately I can't do it very often but when I do I just feel so much better during/after. and it helps me sleep better too.

crying ftw
polaroidmoment 18th-Jul-2012 09:50 am (UTC)
I usually work out too. I've had a pretty awful/stressful week though and I started off with a sprained ankle and now have some sort of cold/strep throat hybrid so I haven't been able to do anything but cry and sleep.

All I want to do is go for a run and cry afterwards, lol.
sayanythinglove 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
How do you deal with stress, ONTD?

I drink too much alcohol and smoke too much weed. Is this not what everyone does?
suburban_war 18th-Jul-2012 05:27 am (UTC)
Sounds about right tbh
fruitchews 18th-Jul-2012 05:45 am (UTC)
Yup. Drinking is where it's at and makes things better tbh.
quoyle 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
just when i think she can't get any more perfect. that book bird by bird is a life changer (though the story amy tells about lamott happened to her brother) i use it for inspiration constantly even though i'm a technical writer for work.

i destress by listening to beach house's teen dream as loud as i can without getting a noise complaint called on me, or go to the gym, or watch the third disc of the first season of 30 rock because avian bone syndrome jokes make everything better
tiddlywinks103 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
I read, and/or take a nap.
alkalinecupcake 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
I usually just walk away from the situation and take a breather or sleep on it.

I LOVE HER.
aleronihead 18th-Jul-2012 03:03 pm (UTC)
I'm here for walking away/taking a breather/sleeping on it.
ladysophiekitty 18th-Jul-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
1. Hot baths with a good book
2. Nice cup of mint tea with a good book
3. Music!
4. Baking and eating what I bake
5. Ranting about whatever it is stressing me out

Any mix of the above will usually do the trick.
loveloveshebang 18th-Jul-2012 05:23 am (UTC)
omg i LOVE that she mentions anne lamott and bird by bird. i'm rereading that right now, actually
tiarlynn 18th-Jul-2012 07:03 am (UTC)
i bought it ages ago and still haven't read it...one day!
