It’s a girl for Kelsey Grammer!
The Boss star’s wife Kayte delivered a daughter, Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer, at 1 a.m. Friday, July 13 in Los Angeles. She weighed in at 6 lbs., 2 oz.
“We are thrilled,” the couple tell PEOPLE. “Mother and child are in excellent health.”
The arrival of their baby girl was also bittersweet for the Grammers.
“We were ecstatic earlier this year, when we announced that Kayte was carrying twins. Tragically we lost the little boy shortly thereafter,” Kelsey, 57, and Kayte, 31, reveal in a statement.
“This was not something we cared to make known publicly at the time. It was unspeakably painful and we know that people will understand our desire to keep the news private then, as we know they will respect our privacy in this matter now.”
The couple, who previously lost a child in the fall of 2010, add, “A glorious birth with a lingering sadness is ours today. We choose to celebrate the life that has been given us. We proudly introduce our Faith to the world today looking forward to the days ahead and the children yet to come.”

Grammer's personal life has been affected by several tragedies: in 1968, his estranged father, whom he had seen only twice since his parents' divorce, was shot dead;[3] in 1975, his younger sister, Karen, was abducted, raped, and murdered by spree killer Freddie Glenn;[7][8][9][10] in 1980, his twin half-brothers died in a scuba diving accident; and David Angell, close friend and producer of Frasier, died in the 9/11 attacks.[11][12]

His second marriage, to stripper Leigh-Anne Csuhany in September 1992,[26] lasted one year. Grammer says that she was abusive and fired a gun at him,[27] and that after talk of divorce, she attempted suicide, which resulted in the miscarriage of their child.[3]
