In the wake of a female audience member accusing Daniel Tosh of making a rape joke at her expense, comedians have taken to Twitter to comment on the controversy.
While numerous comedy fans and professionals have tweeted messages condemning Tosh's response to the female heckler, some comedy figures, including Jim Norton, Louis C.K. and Opie of The Opie & Anthony Show, have expressed support for Tosh and for a comedians' right to speak uncensored.
Dane Cook, who performed at The Laugh Factory on the same night as Tosh, had a darker message: easily offended people should kill themselves.
Not familiar with Anthony Jeselnik but his tweet was the worst I've seen.

What Tosh said to that woman wasn't a joke. He went to far and showed his ass.
because frankly, I don't see how any joke from rape could be funny. Uncomfortable, maybe... really horrible, possibly, but funny? No I just can't see that. Men and women who tell rape jokes are equally awful - coming off as pigs or ignorant or misogynistic or all three, and women who make rape jokes not only belittle the experience but enforce victimisation/guilt/loss of power/blame. And yes, men are victims too, and treating rape like this also shames them into hiding etc..
I don't know, I just... I can't see how rape is ever something to laugh about.
IMO, a joke can be made about anything, it just has to be done the right way. Unfortunately it is VERY rare that jokes about rape are done correctly.
Wanda Sykes was who I think of on a good rape joke. Hal Sparks did a joke about how stupid the term "date rape" is because it stops being a date and the term is pretty awful. Sarah Silverman makes a lot of rape jokes - most of which are horrible imho.
The difference in rape jokes are whether they perpetuate the society's sexist attitude towards rape (or worse, equate it with rough sex) or take apart rape culture and shows how stupid and cruel it is.
