In the wake of a female audience member accusing Daniel Tosh of making a rape joke at her expense, comedians have taken to Twitter to comment on the controversy.
While numerous comedy fans and professionals have tweeted messages condemning Tosh's response to the female heckler, some comedy figures, including Jim Norton, Louis C.K. and Opie of The Opie & Anthony Show, have expressed support for Tosh and for a comedians' right to speak uncensored.
Dane Cook, who performed at The Laugh Factory on the same night as Tosh, had a darker message: easily offended people should kill themselves.
Not familiar with Anthony Jeselnik but his tweet was the worst I've seen.

OMFG, my stomach just turned. How can people have this disgusting mentality?
at least I still have Eddie Izzard to believe in
I REALLY hope Michael Ian Black is mocking rape joke defenders with that tweet, because I would really prefer to keep liking him.
As for MIB, PLEASe have been mocking the rape defenders. I think he was. I really do think he was.

Also, if Michael Ian Black says it's okay, then it's okay.

Where I take issue is his comment that the woman should be gang raped where it's no longer a joke made in bad taste and becomes a threatening, horrible comment designed to put her in fear.
I think most of them are defending his right to make jokes, but they're ignoring the much most insidious second half of what he said.
THAT right there is the problem. If we just let it slide when it happens because 'eh, it happened before, it's gonna happen again,' then we're saying there's nothing wrong with it. There is something very, very wrong with the pervasive casual downplaying of the horror of rape.

You can say the same about rape. That doesn't make it ok. That doesn't mean we should be down with it.
And no, you're not ~the only one~ sticking up for the trivialization of rape, so don't worry, dear.
rme
that's fucking terrible. and in that kind of environment, it's really threatening.
A lot of people?
hence the outrage.

Fucking why is it so goddamn hard to understand why rape jokes are not okay?? jfc

This is why it pisses me off, comedians feel entitled to make jokes about what could be the most traumatizing experience to a woman. ugh I can't with this race culture we live in.
fuck tosh
One panel was a co-worker just out of the blue saying to him "Can you imagine if you were a guy and got raped? Like how funny and sad that would be. And GAY!"

however, in this particular case, Tosh was clearly doing it for the shock value--and actually directing it to someone else makes it 100% worse. and then these other assholes on twitter are defending him...if they were just his friends who have his back they could say "he didn't mean it like that" or something, but they take it to the next level by exacerbating the situation with their own crude humor. it's sad.
and the worst part is, he could have just apologized, but instead he made it worse on purpose, so fuck him.
