pinkmoped 17th-Jul-2012 08:22 am (UTC)
Mte, I thought this was a sequel for Never Back Down tbh. Not at all what I expected...
helpmepullthru 12th-Jul-2012 12:45 am (UTC)
Ew Maggie Gyllenhaal. No. Just no.

I still wish Christopher Nolan would go back and re-shoot all of her scenes in The Dark Knight with Katie now that she is free of tyranny.
xtinkerbellax 12th-Jul-2012 01:45 am (UTC)
Like Katie is a better actress.
treebraids 12th-Jul-2012 12:33 pm (UTC)
people are busy lying to themselves about her awesomeness due to this divorce. By the end of the year she'll go back to being boring.
thetrustoryofme 12th-Jul-2012 01:16 pm (UTC)
i agree. while i dont think katie is a better actress per se, it really bugs me when characters are recast (im looking at you ironman to ironman 2... and i love don cheadle.)
oh_sailor 13th-Jul-2012 09:47 am (UTC)
Oh hell no
barbarbarian 13th-Jul-2012 07:55 pm (UTC)

beck_rocks 12th-Jul-2012 01:02 am (UTC)

it depends. Charter schools that try to invade schools that are already successful is terrible but charter schools in a building of a school that is failing has potential to bring greater success with smaller classroom sizes.
mistycreed 12th-Jul-2012 01:30 am (UTC)
This. Like I wrote in my comment below, my sister applied to a charter school recently because the school system in Louisiana is fucked. And she's an fine arts teacher, so her programs are the first thing cut by her evil principal.
mistycreed 12th-Jul-2012 01:22 am (UTC)
Idk. My sister recently applied to work at a charter school and it's really advanced compared to the public schools that she's taught at.
hollis1975 12th-Jul-2012 01:56 am (UTC)
my kids attend a very excellent charter school. i admit that there are bad ones out there and when they are bad its HORRIBLE but a good charter school is wonderful for kids
harborafternoon 12th-Jul-2012 02:17 am (UTC)
charter schools are a horrible solution for public education FOR SURE. fuck them and their tendency to admit certain kinds of students and the fact that they risk standardization (not to be confused with standardized testing tho)
alwaysu2 12th-Jul-2012 12:46 am (UTC)
Fuck charter schools. Hope this movie flops.
yourremedy 12th-Jul-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
Aww this looks cute. I cry at every movie, literally I got teary at the Katy Perry movie, so I'm sure I'll bawl at this one!
foryoursake08 12th-Jul-2012 01:09 am (UTC)
lol I cry during some commercials now. I'm so emotional.
cruel_idol 12th-Jul-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
I will go see this movie, I like movies on education and two women joining forces to help children get a proper education is cool.
morant_bay 12th-Jul-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
sounds like my biggest nightmare. is it set in red hook? that would make it even more cringe-worthy.
luvherbones 12th-Jul-2012 12:49 am (UTC)
lol i wouldn't be surprised
morant_bay 12th-Jul-2012 01:04 am (UTC)
they decided to make it more neutral (less "ripped from today's headlines," tbh) and set it in pittsburgh.
yourremedy 12th-Jul-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
Although, I agree with everyone else. Charter schools are usually for the douche kids who have bogus 'disorders' and don't want to follow rules.
morant_bay 12th-Jul-2012 01:05 am (UTC)
in brooklyn and the bronx they're set up and run by douche, power-hungry control freaks who don't include the parents/build a sense of community. teacher turnover is ridiculously high.
klmnumbers 12th-Jul-2012 01:15 am (UTC)
This makes me sad since my sister teaches at one in the Bronx..
baboona 12th-Jul-2012 12:48 am (UTC)
looks absolutely awful
isntdaveone 12th-Jul-2012 12:48 am (UTC)
UGGGGHH FUCK YOU Charter schools.
one_hoopy_frood 12th-Jul-2012 12:49 am (UTC)
Fucking charter schools. Fucking Obama for endorsing them. FIX THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM THAT CHILDREN ARE ENTITLED TO IN THE FUCKING CONSTITUTION.
xfdryad 12th-Jul-2012 03:49 am (UTC)
WORD.
hahahey 12th-Jul-2012 12:49 am (UTC)
this bland mess, no thank you
ace_kay 12th-Jul-2012 12:49 am (UTC)
Yeah, I went to a charter school (and work there now) and it was/is terrible. Though it's nice for parents who want an alternative to public school and can't afford private.
phillymademe 12th-Jul-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
i like movies surrounding education so i'd probably see this.
lalameanslove 12th-Jul-2012 12:52 am (UTC)
same
wave_and_smile 12th-Jul-2012 01:21 am (UTC)

treebraids 12th-Jul-2012 12:34 pm (UTC)
same here. it immediately went to chick flick cheesiness with that song.
quote_me_once 12th-Jul-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
kind of wish viola davis was just the lead in this herself..
harborafternoon 12th-Jul-2012 02:19 am (UTC)
every movie needs a white lead. what's wrong with you?
treebraids 12th-Jul-2012 12:33 pm (UTC)
MTE
jello404 12th-Jul-2012 07:29 pm (UTC)
THIS. The roles should have been switched.Maggie as lead? FUCKING SERIOUSLY? oh ok.
