Scout Holmes Goes to the Zoo

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri were pictured earlier today (July 11) enjoying yet another 'mother/daughter' day out, this time the actress took her six year old daughter to Central Park zoo.

The pair were also joined by Katie's mother Kathleen, as they were all pictured looking happy as they watched the penguins swim around in the New York City tourist attraction.

Since the unexpected split, it looks like Katie has been doing whatever she can to take control of Suri's life and is even considering changing the six year-old's name as she attempts to cut links with her ex-hubby Tom Cruise after filing for divorce just ten days ago.

According to Now Magazine she wants to remove all influences from her daughter, who she was awarded primary custody of following the couple's divorce settlement announced on Monday (July 8) and wants to change her name from 'Suri Cruise' to 'Scout Holmes'.

An insider told the magazine: “She's been telling friends she wants to make Suri's middle name Cruise and change her surname to Holmes”

“She hates the name Suri, so she gave her a nickname from To Kill A Mockingbird,” the source added.

It's weird to actually see other children around Suri. They both look happy though. Love it.

I didn't know you could just change your name to whatever in the US. In my country you must have good reasons to do it, like if it's damaging to the person, or misspelled or from another country (you can translate it), or for protection, etc. The more you know!

Yeah you just fill out a form here and pay the fee. I know a girl who changed her last name from Callahan to Callahanson.

I had a teacher from Colombia last semester and she had changed her surname after she married, but now they're divorced and she can't change it back to her maiden name or even change it to her next husband's lastname because you can only change yours once if you're from there

in spain at least is reaally tricky, you have to give a lot of proof that people actually call you with your new name and legal forms where you have used this new name... it's a pain in the ass so almost nobody does it

One of the voice actors on Red Vs Blue changed his middle name to Lazer just because he could. So... no restrictions.
